The folks at Crane TV invite us into the world of British designer Lou Dalton. We’ve been fans of Lou’s work for quite some time now so we’re more than happy to hear the lady chat influences, her beginnings in the industry and the man she imagines when putting pencil to paper.

Stuff your Supreme store openings, today’s menswear day! And everyone knows streetwear is just fashion for the insecure anyway. One of our standouts from today is Lou Dalton, who made a collection stuffed full of great, wearable coats, blazers and some Swarovski crystal covered t-shirts that only Ray J could afford. You know he’s got seven Rolls Royces right?

Lou Dalton kicks off Spring 2012. The new collection pulls inspiration from two “contrasting” themes: the “the harshness and desperation of the 1984 Miners’ Strike, and Matthew Bourne’s menacing male ensemble in Swan Lake. Yet both are symbolic struggles, whether it be the demise of the National Union of Miners, or the rise of the swan.” Mixed themes keep the collection fresh.

We’re gonna get all music snob and say we’ve been into wearing Lou Dalton since before the likes of Liberty got on board. But we’re going to defy that stereotype and announce that we still like the stuff, but we will be pulling out older pieces – we’re not sure you can call it ‘Vintage Lou’ yet – and walking around newcomers with a knowing smirk. We usually steer clear of anything labelled as African or ‘ethnic’ – we’re not fans of vague descriptions – but we do like this tee. We’re not so crazy about wearing grey tees in hot weather (sweat patches love grey shirts) but we do like this one. Just be sure to, as the kids say, go hard on the deodorant when you wear this. This Lou Dalton piece blew up the interwebz last year and this year it’s been updated for folks who love a bit of blackwatch. If we were streetwear heads we’d say this is a ‘must cop’. But we’re not, so we won’t. It does look very nice though. Look out for it in our next seven days. (Daniel Jenkins)

From something office friendly to something that definitely isn’t, here’s a some trousers with some nicely placed zips on them. They wouldn’t suit the workplace (though that depends what sort of office you work in) but they’d be great for every other casual occasion. We’ve mocked those ‘how to wear it’ articles for a while now, but we won’t blame you if you were unsure of how to wear these. For the record, they’d work well with either mid tops (as you can see in the picture), chukkas or some desert boots. But try out some different combos for yourself, a little trial and error never hurt nobody. (Daniel Jenkins)

Is it silly to be looking at Fair Isle scarves in the midst of August? As we’re doing just that, we’re gonna say no. As the kids probably wouldn’t say, we’re feeling pattern mixing for the winter, so a fair isle scarf is a nice and easy way to get it started. If it was up to us, we’d wear this with either a check/floral patterned shirt, chunky cardigan and a nice worn-in pair of jeans. Not that we’ve thought about this. (Oki-Ni)

We’re sure there’s plenty of folks looking at their google reader in disgust right now. Yep, it’s yet another chambray shirt – but this one has a silk collar, which (genuinely) makes all the difference. And it’s on sale too, which helps.
