Lou Dalton Blackwatch Short Mac

Selectism - lou-dalton-blackwatch-mac-01

This Lou Dalton piece blew up the interwebz last year and this year it’s been updated for folks who love a bit of blackwatch. If we were streetwear heads we’d say this is a ‘must cop’. But we’re not, so we won’t. It does look very nice though. Look out for it in our next seven days. (Daniel Jenkins)

Lou Dalton Zip Trousers

From something office friendly to something that definitely isn’t, here’s a some trousers with some nicely placed zips on them. They wouldn’t suit the workplace (though that depends what sort of office you work in) but they’d be great for every other casual occasion. We’ve mocked those ‘how to wear it’ articles for a while now, but we won’t blame you if you were unsure of how to wear these. For the record, they’d work well with either mid tops (as you can see in the picture), chukkas or some desert boots. But try out some different combos for yourself, a little trial and error never hurt nobody. (Daniel Jenkins)

Lou Dalton Fair Isle Scarf

Selectism - lou-dalton-fair-isle-scarf-01

Is it silly to be looking at Fair Isle scarves in the midst of August? As we’re doing just that, we’re gonna say no. As the kids probably wouldn’t say, we’re feeling pattern mixing for the winter, so a fair isle scarf is a nice and easy way to get it started. If it was up to us, we’d wear this with either a check/floral patterned shirt, chunky cardigan and a nice worn-in pair of jeans. Not that we’ve thought about this. (Oki-Ni)

Lou Dalton Chambray Shirt

Selectism - lou-dalton-chambray-shirt-01

We’re sure there’s plenty of folks looking at their google reader in disgust right now. Yep, it’s yet another chambray shirt – but this one has a silk collar, which (genuinely) makes all the difference. And it’s on sale too, which helps. We featured this over on our seven days feature a while back, so we’ve featured that look after the leap – use it as inspiration. (Oki-Ni)

Lou Dalton Silk Collar Shirt

Silk collars are one of those things most folks (including us) just don’t consider. We’ve never been against it per se; it just never entered our heads in the first place. However, Lou Dalton’s SS10 collection has shown us the silk-collared way – and we’re on board. If the shirt we featured in 7 days was a little too loud for you, this shirt is far subtler, ensuring that you don’t run the risk of looking like a cheesy cruise ship performer. (Daniel Jenkins)

Lou Dalton Gold Twill Coat

Don’t be put off by the world gold in the title – no one will confuse you with midas in this coat. Spring’s finally sprung for most folks but it’s still not quite t-shirt weather yet – so that means it’s time to bring out the unlined coats. We were quite the fans of Dalton’s outerwear (as you can see) and this jacket is a perfect example of why we’re such cheerleaders for it. While we’re sure some folks will dismiss this as a ‘fashion’ range – probably muttering some nonsense about men wearing the same oxford shirts being a movement – but this is reasonably priced (£250), well made and locally produced. What more could you ask for? (Daniel Jenkins)

Lou Dalton Tweed Jacket

We like a sale when the stock’s okay; we love a sale when the stocks great. Daniel Jenkins’ sale falls into the latter category. We’ve picked out this Lou Dalton jacket, but we could easily pick at least five other pieces that deserve equal billing. While you there you should have a browse – it’s 35% off all AW09 stock. And if you think anything’s too expensive, just compare it with those 2 grand moth-eaten Rodarte jumpers we featured yesterday. (Daniel Jenkins)

Lou Dalton Shoulder Patch Jumper

selectism - lou-dalton-shoulder-patch-jumper-01

Daniel Jenkins has just got in a couple of new exclusive products from Lou Dalton and, for our money, this jumper is the pick of the bunch. Made in collaboration with knitwear makers William Lockie (heritage fanatics: this one’s been going since 1874), this jumper is made from fine merino wool and has tweed patches on the shoulder and elbow – double the patch love for your money. (Daniel Jenkins)

Song remains the same, detailed images after the leap.

Lou Dalton Parka

Now that outerwear is landing in stores, we’ve been turning our eyes towards a new winter coat to add to the team. You should have a starting five of coats by now. This will be the year when you relegate a few old ones to the bench and buy a new version to change the line-up a little (are these sports references doing anything for you?).

We’re used to buttons on our parkas – that’s just way we were raised – but we can get down with this Lou Dalton zip parka. Detail fanatics will be glad to know that it’s made in England; price fanatics will be glad to know it only retails for £250. (Daniel Jenkins)

There’s plenty more shots of this jacket after the leap.
