It’s been a back and forth year for the people behind the Geil Magazine. We’re not going to go into the back and forth politics of it all but we will report that issue one looks to be a reality. As Friller mentions, “Geil Magazine will be a more fashion oriented niche consumer magazine comprising about 260 pages, covering both the German and international fashion scene. The Spring 2009 issue of Geil Magazine features Lucien Tomkins on the cover by Bruno Staub.”

The latest issue of Fantastic Man is hitting the newsstands now. The Dutch mens lifestyle magazine continues to trailblaze a path across editors desks from London to Dubai. Issue #9 features Bret Easton Ellis on the cover and houses articles on cologne, headgear, interviews, and more. Find it now on newsstands.

The March issues of Creative Review drops tomorrow, February 18. The issue has features with LA’s Self Help Graphics and Art and an article on Harry Beck’s design for metro Paris in the late 1930s. They’ve also solicited some Advertising big whigs for predictions on who will win this years big prizes in the field.

Don’t front like you have not looked at some old image of the man in charge and thought, ‘damn, he’s on.” Well with the changing of the guard just around the corner, GQ’s January issue devotes some print to “Presidential Style: Follow the Leaders.” From JFK’s Cape Code proper khakis and boat shoes to G.W.’s bad ass sunblockers, GQ digs it all out.

Gawker is reporting that Conde Nast is closing the door on DNR, the men’s fashion trade magazine. From Gawker, “The feeble spin is that WWD will pick up the slack by launching “comprehensive, round-the-clock men’s fashion and retail coverage.” More to come as we get information.

R29 reports in on the opening of the first Monocle Shop in London. “ The Monocle Shop was inspired by readers’ overwhelming response to the magazine’s bespoke design, product, and lifestyle partnerships with brands like Comme des Garçons, Porter, Artek, Liberty UK, and Tretorn, to name a few.” Be sure to check out the new space when

The new issue of Visionaire is out. Visionaire No. 55 “Surprise” is a collaboration with Krug.

“The new issue of Visionaire pushes the limits of paper with an issue devoted to pop-ups. Visionaire 55 Surprise collaborates with the House of Krug and features intricate pop-ups by Sophie Calle, Andreas Gursky, Cai Guo-Qiang, Steven Klein, Yayoi Kusama, Alasdair McLellan, Steven Meisel, Guido Mocafico, Nicola Formichetti/Gareth Pugh, Sølve Sundsbø, and Mario Testino. The pop-up folios are housed in a dark purple cloth-covered case with a magnetized closure and engraved metal plaque.”

Visionaire No. 55 “Surprise” is limtied to 4000 copies and is now available at colette.
