The difference between a cruiser, like this naked killer from Makr, and a longboard is crucial and worth pontification. Sure, longboards are fast and easy to ride, but the only thing more ridiculous looking than someone pushing around on one is the sight of someone trying to carry such a monstrosity up a flight of stairs. There is nothing sophisticated about longboards.

Cruisers, on the other hand, practically drip class. You might have to practice a while before you can truly get rad on one, but the extra effort is well worth it, especially when you reach your destination and can pick your board up like a briefcase. As far as cruising boards go, only a handful are this artisan—handmade in the U.S.A. and laser-etched. Get one over at Makr. These great belts from Unis come about by way of a collaboration with Florida’s MAKR and are crafted from leather pulled from vintage bags and aged brass hardware.

We are funny with belts: when we find one we like—especially a somewhat rugged one like this—it will stay in the loops of our favorite jeans for months on end. But when we switch do a different pair of pants, the belt can be all but forgotten and forced to languish in the dark recesses of a dresser drawer. Will this belt end the cycle of madness? Dunno. Hats off to Grain & Gram for this great little video offering a look at the workings of accessories favourites MAKR. Founder Jason Gregory skates, sews and sketches his way through the film and, with the help of his bearded associates, creates those totes, wallets and keyfobs we love so much. All crafted in their Florida studio – unsurprisingly one of those perfect spaces that makes you go ‘ooohhh’ –  this is a behind the scenes look at a small company making big waves. The gentleman at Makr in Florida show us their custom box printing using a custom milled platen on a press once used by the Daytona Herald.
