Now available at Por Vocação is this new twist on Maison Martin Margiela’s Replica sneaker (itself a riff on the classic Adidas Samba). We definitely like what’s going on here: woven canvas fabric with lots of pixel squares washing over the toe, giving the impression that you’ve kicked in a flatscreen and pulled back digital remnants. Bonus: you can wear these without laces, thanks to some stabilizing straps on the tongue. Other than that, what more can we say? These gems speak pretty well for themselves.

Trolling over on Por Vocacao, we discover images of footwear coming from the Margiela line for Autumn Winter 2012. Some interesting specimens in the collection including a series of all-rubber shoes (desert boot and all) which we will need to hold in hand to experience. The snakeskins look proper and we’re excited to see the “return” of the splatter paints. Much more in our gallery.

Peacoat time! Margiela 14 comes through the games with a contrasting collar number that is sure to make you re-think the four other peacoats in your closet. A bit of beige corduroy does it right on the neckline and cuffs. The usual lapel and button closures are there keeping this peacoat true to form. Consider it… maybe you do need a Margiela peacoat in your life. Portugal’s Por Vocacao has them. They better be Benfica fans (I’m serious).

The new consumer age in Asia shows no signs of let down in the luxury end. The latest player in the China space looks to be the Margiela line with their second build-out. Our pound for pound favourite brand have done it again. Drawing inspiration from the classic cricket sweater, there’s just enough of the twist – and the twist is so important – to pique our interest. The bib style can be hit or miss on knitwear – you are very close to looking like a waiter sometimes – but it works here. (Por Vocacao)

Nowness brings us a new video celebrating the launch of Margiela’s second scent. “A self-professed admirer of Margiela’s deconstructivist garments, Borthwick took inspiration from the fragrance’s naturalistic notes of Mandarin orange, curly-leaf mint, Amalfi lemon, buchu essential oil and African orange flower, taking the viewer on a journey through an idyllic spring garden, as seen from the inside of the L’Eau bottle.”
