Selectism - Talking About The Abstraction Fall/Winter 2008

Thanks to Skeltons Legs for turning us onto the label Talking About The Abstraction. As they mention, "The brand is known for printing photos of clothes onto mismatched clothes in a stunningly realistic manner.  The first jacket you see is actually a sweater with the image of a jacket printed onto it." An absolute must see line.

Selectism - Filippa K Melange and Structured Knits

Friday, late afternoon in New England. The weather is clearly changing with the brisk Canadian winds settling in. Its Fall and Winter will hit any moment now. Its knits time. Blackbird offers a bunch including two from Filippa K. One is a Melange Knit in grey made from 100% wool. A very nice r-neck finish. The second is our favorite. A button up structured knit made from mohair/nylon/wool/angora (33/26/23/18). A great look which will hug well and keep you warm. Both are great in grey.

Selectism - James Perse Launches Online Store

In one of those, "its about time" moments, James Perse, the king of the high end basic wear, has launched their online shopping zone featuring a full range of James Perse wears for men, women, and "Baby." We’ve mentioned the James Perse line in the past. The quality of their goods is almost unmatched and their online presence make the line even more accesible to masses. I like to use the term "wash survivors" when describing Perse basic wear. Pass on that GAP/H&M/UNIQLO v-neck for once and try on a Perse tee. Check the selection of pajama pants as well.

Selectism - Miyuki Minami's Itazura for Fall/Winter 2008

Japanese designer, Miyuki Minami launched her Itazura line in 2003 after having worked in apparel for years. The name Itazura comes from children’s books. "Itazura swim around freely in the world of adult and the world of children, like Peter and Wendy in Peter Pan,written byBarrie james matthew. It is the world where the adult, who has learned to conceal cleverly, wants to peep in again." Her menswear collection for Fall/Winter 2008 plays on this theme with androgenous looks that fit oversized at times. (via sl)

Selectism - Rene Gurskov Men Fall/Winter 2008/2009

Denmark’s Rene Gurskov’s Men’s line is cryptic at times in determining what the focus or theme is when reading their press releases. Luckily the clothing tends to hold itself up without need for words or communicae. What we can make out is that the Fall/Winter 2008/2009 collection, "Do You Really Want to Hurt Me." pulls from the Boy George aesthetic of London "finding his way /style… Guys with tattoos and bloody nose."
