No fading a strong messenger bag, and this plumper from Lanvin has extra roominess working for it. That and a fanciful and pleasantly busy geometric print that traffics in forces EMT and vaguely Navaho. Lots of pockets on this one and, as mentioned, lots of space for all that stuff you are always carrying around. A detachable shoulder strap puts it securely on you when you are sprinting down alleyways, scrambling up fire-escapes and leaping between rooftops. LN-CC has it.

Cherchbi is a British bag- and belt-maker with an interesting history. Founder Adam Atkinson started the company in in 2007 with the notion of making bags using wool generally considered worthless from and old, rare and extremely hardy breed of sheep called Herdwick. After many trials, Atkinson produced Herdwyck No. 10, a fine, waterproof tweed. This messenger bag isn’t made from it, but is still and handsome and sound bugger.

Hard to fail with a handmade messenger of this content and caliber. Made from woven English Union fabric—a waterproof cotton/linen herringbone—it boasts multiple external and internal pockets making it duty-ready. Side panels fold inward, meaning when it is not filled it looks nice and trim. At present, Bench & Loom is the sole Cherchbi retailer stateside.

You would think that after more than three years of revival that the classic schoolboy backpacks – with their leather strappings and bonus hardware – would drop out of fashion. Clearly not, as more companies continue to push whatever they can from the forms. Jojo Messenger is right there with their current collection of bags for the Centre Commercial shop. Problem is: I feel like I have seen this look before. The canvas on the Jojo Messenger looks solid enough, but I would be more inclined to purchase this form if they were a bit more unique. For me, personally, you either do it big with messengers or you don’t. The classic messenger was meant to be filled and stuff for easy travel. Small doesn’t cut it. It’s got all that stuff (that sweet, funky stuff) that Want Les are known for – 100% organic cotton and all that jazz – and it’s got all the compartments one man could wish for.
