This weekend the GANT by Michael Bastian Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection was presented during New York Fashion Week. The designer continues to present his preppy American look, presenting beautiful blazers, a nice set of camouflage items and just overall nice details in his collection.

Gant continues to work with designer Michael Bastian for Spring/Summer 2011. We certainly liked their first collection last season and cannot wait to see the new product in store. Here is a nice video showcasing the looks of the season.

We’re trying our best to stay away from the words ’staple’ and ‘wardrobe essential’, honest. But then we saw these Gant/Michael Bastian grey trousers and they’re as stapley as staples come – in a good way. (Forward)

Check this quilted firing jacket from Michael Bastian as part of his Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. As Colette puts it, “he mixes everything, flannel suit with big pullovers, elegant jackets with military pants and squared shirts under a jacket or around the waist. An attractive harmonious shambles!” Check the removable sleeves. Is it proper to call it a puffa? (colette)

NYT has a feature on Michael Bastian that’s worth a reading. “As can be seen from the gentlemanly elegance of his quarters, Mr. Bastian is old-school. In his world, men are still from Mars. Or at least Dartmouth. And it seems he has a point. How else to explain his dark-horse rise as a men’s wear designer? … Mr. Bastian has found surprising success with an agenda so modest it almost seems radical: to give men slimmed-down, spiffed-up versions of the all-American clothes they have long loved.”
