Mihara Yasuhiro Desert Boots

Selectism - mihara-yasuhiro-dessert-boot-01

We always enjoy looking at Mihara Yasuhiro’s shoes, even if it’s just to tilt our heads and say WTF. And these shoes are a definite head tilter. Half a regular suede desert boot and half a longwing chukka it’s a great looking specimen, even though we don’t think it works as a shoe. Still worth gawking at though. (Farfetch)

Mihara Yasuhiro Varsity Jacket

Here’s part 373464 of our ongoing ‘it’s cool because it’s from Japan’ series. Mihara Yasuhiro is responsible for some of the crazier designs seen on this here site, but he also knows his way around a good varsity jacket (we featured one a while back, but this is an updated version). Shawl collar addicts that we are, we quite like them on our jackets as well as our knitwear. But the most important thing is that it’s from Japan and hard to find -  which makes it cool. (Mindtrive)

Mihara Yasuhiro Cut-Off Oxfords

Yep, so these are a little crazy. There’s nothing wrong with that – we all need a little crazy sometimes – but these are strictly for the most adventurous of you. Yasuhiro has made a few, shall we say, adjustments to classic shoe styles before, but this time he’s kicked it up a notch with these oxfords-cum-sandals. Not to get all Larry David, but these are the good kind of crazy. (Mindtrive)

Take a leap to see these in all their half-cut glory.

Mihara Yasuhiro for Topman Trench Coat

selectism - mihara-yasuhiro-topman-trench-coat

Despite having enough money to sip mo’ on a living room floor and play nintendo with Cease and Nino – A Biggie reference had to be shoehorned in somewhere today – Topman is still something of a dirty word amongst certain circles. While we’ve always maintained that their mainline range is overpriced for what it is, we’re still big fans of their collaborations.

Their latest trench project brings Mihara Yasuhiro (who falls into the ever widening ‘He’s Japanese so we like him’ bracket’) to play about with the traditional trench coat. The results are a dandy-esque coat that’s great for the guys who love looking sharp. (Topman)

Jas M.B. for Mihara Yasuhiro Boston Bag

Thank gawd for the internet eh? Without it we wouldn’t have known about this handsome collaboration (we also wouldn’t have existed in the first place, but let’s not get all existential). London bag maker Jas M.B. teamed with Japanese designer Mihara Yasuhiro to make a capsule collection of two bags. This Boston bag is our pick of the two, made to the usual high Jas M.B. standards and easing up on the detailing, it’s just what you’d expect from a collabo between the two. Now if only we could get our mitts on it without a proxy…… (Mindtrive)

Mihara Yasuhiro Shawl Collar Varsity Jacket

25 August 2009, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - mihara-yasuhiro-varsity-jacket-01

We’ve been on the lookout for a burgundy slim fit (but not too skinny) varsity for months now and the results have been conclusive; this product doesn’t exist. While we wait for the varsity gods to bless us, we have to make do with this Mihara Yasuhiro jacket.

It’s not too shabby – shawl collar, leather arms and all that jazz. It uses deer skin, wool, nylon and even throws a little cashmere in the mix, just in case you don’t feel luxurious enough when your rocking it. You can’t order this online, so you’ll have to brush up on your Japanese and email the folks at Mindtrive to get hold of this. Rosetta Stone is your friend. (Mindtrive)

Take a leap to see the back of the grey varsity and the all black version.

Mihara Yasuhiro Half-Brogue Shoes

mihara yasuhiro half brogues Mihara Yasuhiro Half Brogue Shoes

As shoe styles are veering towards classic styles, it’s getting harder for us to recommend designer shoes. Why spend £400 on designer shoes when you can get a custom pair of Trickers made for £350? Now that the consumer is more educated and demanded, designers will have to step up. Mihara Yasuhiro has done just that, putting a great twist on a classic design and avoiding a gimmicky look. Get it from Mindtrive (if you can).

Take a look at another view of the shoes after the jump.

Miharayasuhiro Spring/Summer 2009

Mihara Yasuhiro may be well known for his footwear collections, including his ongoing co-branded line with Puma, but we should not sleep on investigating his clothing line - Miharayasuhiro. For Spring/Summer 2009, the Miharayasuhiro line offers energy through color and drapery. The fashions look to be placed rather than worn by the models. It’s street centric with that Japanese edge.

Many more looks from the Miharayasuhiro Spring/Summer 2009 collection after the jump.

Mihara Yasuhiro Travel Bag

While we love a steel framed bag as much as the next man, there’s something to be said for a good, beaten up, slouchy bag. This Mihara Yasuhiro travel bag is a perfect example of this, looking like the kind of bag that should be in vintage stores but never is. Get it if you can from Mindtrive.

Hong Kong based readers will be pleased to know that Canon called upon Japanese fashion designer, Mihara Yasuhiro to design this map bag style camera case for their Canon G10 camera. Truth be told, it looks to fit just about any G Series camera including the G10’s famous older brother, the G9. Finding a proper bag for the G series has been a pain for a while now. We think this leather one does it well.  Available now through the Canon Image2 Showroom or online(via kix-files)
