Technical wear is always better if it involves pack away goods. These Gore-Tex military raincoats from Axesquin available now from LT JP are “techincal origami” at their best. Lightweight and 100% waterpoof, the Axesquin raincoat pack away nicely into it’s storage bag. Breathable and element resistant. Just don’t try to fight that wave in the 2012 trailer with it. If we are able to distinguish outerwear between cold and “damn” cold, we would have to give Mr. Olive of Japan’s military inspired coat the “damn” treatment. “Mr. Olive ‘oily weather/military coat’ features long tight silhouette and wax-based coating that creates an ‘oily’ feel and slight water resistance. The fabric is one wash. The removable hood is made of soft and warm real raccoon and coyote fur. The interior lining is removable and made of 100% Thinsulate, a revolutionary technology of insulation with the fibers maintaining heat and creating the characteristics of being light yet warm as well as functional, making this light weight coat ideal for the coldest of the winter weather as well as for the fall/spring with the interior lining removed.” Made in Japan but available from Atsui Seattle for 775$US.

Highsnobiety - Bodega x Dr. Romanelli Surgical Strike Collection

Bodega and Dr. Romanelli continue their resurrection of classic vintage with the release of the Surgical Strike Collection.

The entire collection is individually crafted & sumptuously detailed from war tested American Military pieces secured from the northeastern regiments. Each jacket comes with a personalized prescription from the Doctor documenting the original military garment it was reconstructed from.

Working from the idea of evolving the classic silhouettes as source materials, this proves to be one of Dr. Romanelli’s most intricate endeavors.

The Surgical Strike Collection is available now at Bodega in Boston. Via Highsnobiety.

Distilled Adam5-100 Jacket

07 December 2007, 20.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

adam5 jacket Distilled Adam5 100 JacketDistilled is a label founded on the principles of creating an environment where artists and designers can successfully collaborate. The latest outcome is the Adam5-100 Jacket.

Military-inspired and fashioned from a winter-worthy Melton wool, it’s a handsome update of a classic. But this coat’s distinctions go further. Working with Oakland-based graffiti artist Adam5-100, the collaboration aimed to produce a piece that spoke to the unique needs of its creators. It performs in the cold weather, but also addresses the artists need for an accessible interior pocket—which can hold his stencil rolls and spray cans.

In addition to its graffiti roots, (the jacket also features Adam5-100’s trademark screen-printing artwork on the inner lining), the design offers a nod to the tech-savvy with a leather headphone eyelet for easy ear-bud access.

The jacket is now available in two colorways at the Distilled Online Store.

Dr. Romanelli x Andrew Brandou @ Maharishi

RTEmagicC drx brandou 1.jpg Dr. Romanelli x Andrew Brandou @ Maharishi

Dr. Romanelli and Andrew Brandou will be showcasing their latest Surgical Strike Collection and paintings at London’s Maharishi starting November 22nd.

“Working together in a military theme, the pair has each created a passionate body of work meditating on the culture of war from uniquely different angles. Inspired by his love of vintage military garments, Romanelli has taken a wide range of iconic uniform pieces from several countries and reimagined them as high-end luxury apparel far removed from their original utilitarian purposes. Meanwhile, painter Andrew Brandou has created a new series of works reinvisioning the world of legendary wildlife artist John James Audobon as populated by a new breed of fashion-conscious and heavily armed animals.” Via Supertouch.

The pieces created by Dr. Romanelli in this collection are simply stunning, as they are not only superior quality, but each piece also tells a story. That mixed with the artwork of Andrew Brandou makes an exciting exhibition that you should not miss.
