Two of the tracks composed by Radiohead frontman, Thom Yorke have appeared online. “Twist” and “Stuck Together,” both composed for fashion label Rag & Bone’s Spring/Summer 2012  runways shows last September, are the latest of a growing round of solo and collaborative work by Yorke, who in the last year has worked with Burial and Four Tet.

Fellow band member, Johnny Greenwood, is also credited on “Stuck Together.”

03. 2011 In Punk & Hardcore: A Review

“No, I’m gonna say it before you have a chance: looking back at what happened in punk and hardcore in a calendar year, and squishing it all into one rambling column, is kind of a bogus activity. It endorses an inappropriately neat culture of compartmentalisation, and ignores the fact that nearly all underground punk records come out when they’re ready and/or the label can afford to press them, rather than to maximalise its market performance or what have you. And yet there are trends in punk and hardcore, ones which create recognisable aesthetic shifts…” (thequietus)

04. 10 Classic Albums Released 10 Years Into A Band’s Career

“It’s a new year, and every Thursday, we’re going to be publishing a new list in this space. You guys like lists, right? Good! For our first one, we got to talking about Guided By Voices, who just released a pretty great album about 25 years after their first one. And that raised the question: How many artists are capable of releasing a great album a decade after their debut?” (stereogum)

Happy New Year 2012 - What Music Did you Listen to?

Happy New Year 2012 from the staff and writers that encompass the Titel Media family.  We thank you for the strong readership and support in 2011. We hope to make 2012 an even stronger year with some changes and additions to our offerings. More on that as we roll into the new year. In the meantime, we look forward to the usual market weeks, the further integration of social into everything now, and the Euro 2012 tournament (most important).

As an end of year 2011 wrap up, we asked various friends and industry insiders to give us a view into the music they they listened to 2011. The focus was not on compiling a best music poll for 2011, but more to get a sense of the diverse musical interests of those in the community. Take a moment and read through their picks – the lists are a mixed bag of singles, albums and more.

ps: the above image from the great I Love You magazine has nothing to do with New Year’s 2012, but everything to do with my favorite magazine cover… from 2010.

Again, Happy New Year 2012 to all… click below for more…

03. Imagining Housing For Today

“Serious architecture is another way to describe Bronx Park East. It is a single-room occupancy residence, an S.R.O., built to house tenants who had been homeless. Sunny, with modest kitchens and full bathrooms, its apartments are smaller (around 285 square feet) than otherwise legally permitted for studios in New York because different rules apply to housing for social service clients. The building has a handsomely proportioned facade, spacious public rooms and light-filled hallways, none of it standard for an S.R.O.” (newyorktimes)

“Streetwalkers and addicts with “desperation-induced madness” in their eyes, stripping and posing in motels, alleyways, and squats, all to make a few bucks — these are the illustrated pages of Scot Sothern’s diary, recalling each exchange in detail. Surely, with his writerly instincts, he gravitated toward them with a similar rush.” (flavorwire)
