With inspiration coming from Hemingway’s “The Old Man and the Sea,” designer, Daisuke Obana presents the N. Hoolywood Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. The touches to ports of call are apparent and done well: short pants with seafaring knit tops and striped numbers. No arguing that the collection is a strong fit for all.

We chased this one down after Mr. Day teased them on his column. The new range of sneakers from Generic Surplus for the Spring/Summer 2012 N. Hoolywood menswear collection are splatter-approved. “Embodying the season theme “Title Back” with it’s upper construction and vulcanized sole, the shoe displays a particular attention to small details with its thick cushioned insole and application of wax-treatment on the laces.”

Available in grey and purple/blue – we’ll take both. These work. Available only through N. Hoolywood retailers (good luck).

A lot of people got a bit sniffy over the shrunken suit and it’s ubiquitous presence thanks to one Mr Thom Browne. They did end up in every high street store and on the backs of every d-list celebrity but it’s hard to deny that for some it’s just a really great cut. This blazer from N.Hoolywood will do little to keep your backside warm but what it lacks in length it makes up for with this incredible textured grey plaid and high lapels. Finally, a #menswear boot Jay-Z would approve of. And, looking at the price, one only the likes of Jay-Z could afford. If your pockets are lined with gold then the £715 price tag won’t bother you. If, on the off chance, your pockets are lined with lint then you’ll just have to stare admiringly at this, like the rest of us. Either way it is a handsome boot. (Oki-Ni)

N. Hoolywood showcases their Spring 2012 collection during New York Fashion Week. The collection was inspired by the title sequences first found in film back in the 1960’s. Pioneered by Saul Bass, the title sequence, of course, shares credits of key production figures and cast – usually accompanied by music. “This season evokes the essence of Bass’ representative title backs by combining solid styles like those often seen in films of the Sixties with pop textiles and prints like those found in the scenes of feature films.”

Two new head pieces from the N. Hoolywood collection. The corduroy numbers come in grey and brown and fit your wardrobe as you see fit. The great positive is that a variety of shops in the West should be stocking these hats when they arrive. Bend that rim as needed. Good looks. MAW has them.

Taking inspiration from the early 19th century mountain climbing scene, Japanese designer Daisuke Obana showed for the first time this season at New York Fashion Week on the runway. The new N. Hoolywood Collection for Autumn/Winter 2011 looks strong with the color palette staying in the grey and beige tones mostly, only with a small part of the collection taking a more bold color direction. The outerwear and pants look fantastic and the designer especially got the details right. Layering the styles next winter will be a lot of fun.

Japan’s N. Hoolywood looks back to the classic police profile portraits of the 40’s for inspiration behind their Spring 2011 lookbook. “‘Police Picture’ around 1910~1940 is the theme for N.Hoolywood this season. We have focused on mug shots, which is the most symbolic figure of the theme.  We have broken down unique mixture of the formal wear and prisoners’ uniform into coordination and details.” Who would have imagined prisonwear to break out. A new category? Tough to tell at this moment.
