With the flurry of tradeshows over and fashion week approaching, the SS10 previews have slowed down a little – which can only be a good thing. We’re sure everyone here has suffered from ‘new collection overload’ – a syndrome we’re coining to describe the gluttony of information that comes during fashion’s busy periods.

So to calm things down a little, we’re taking a ‘one shoe a day’ approach to previewing Narrative’s SS10 collection. Scott notes that these are part of the ‘Shark Zeppa’ group, called so because “the shark sole is the tread and zeppa is the Italian description of a wedge sole without a heel”. Look for these to drop around around January.

Narrative have given us a sneak peek at some chukka boots they have coming up. In the words of Scott Emerson these are the “Maserati Quattroporte” of chukka boots. Listening to the details – vibram sole, top quality vegetable tan leather, nubuck, Italian manufacturing – we’re inclined to agree. There’s a fair few colourways as well, which we’ve included after the leap.

Fashion fanatics will have spotted the fringed trend making its way into women’s fashion lately. While some would say this is a women’s trend crossing over, we’d argue that this is more the influence of Visvims popular FBT Lattice shoe. Wherever the influence was from, these shoes make fringing look like a rather attractive proposition – they’ll certainly be a welcome break from the abundance from boat shoes that’ll be around this summer. We’re noted fans of Narrative here at Selectism, they pretty much tick all our shoe need boxes. We decided to catch up with Scott Emerson, creative director of Narrative, and quiz him about his shark sole shoes, work outside of Narrative and his favourite shoe of the collection.

We’ve shown two previews of Narrative’s AW09 collection (here and here), so we feel it’s only right that we now show the full collection. We’ve been fans of Narrative’s collections for a good while now and with collections as strong as this, that’s set to continue. As usual, the range features every shoe you could possibly think of, from desert boots to shark sole oxfords. We hate to use cliches, but there really is something for everyone in this collection. We’ll also have a Q&A coming with with Creative Director Scott Emerson, so keep an eye out for that later on today.

It would seem like laceless shoes are destined to be the next big thing come AW09. Narrative have shown us their AW09 collection and we thought we’d bring these oxfords to your attention first. As we’ve mentioned before, Narrative’s shoes are now made in the same factory where Alexander McQueen’s footwear is made so the quality has been upped another level. Look out for the full collection later on this week.

Narrative have given us these a sneak peek at their Autumn/Winter 2009 collection and a couple of their new ranges. One of their new ranges includes the ’shark sole’ collection, which uses the sole with several classic shoe styles. Narrative founder Scott Emerson, who is also the footwear designer for Alexander McQueen, has moved factories to the same one where the McQueen shoes are made so Narrative’s quality has been improved even further.

Now I’m probably ruining any chance of getting these for myself, but I can’t stop drooling over these Narrative ‘Chief’ Boots. With the emergence of Redwing boots as a fashion item it has opened the door for a slew of other labels to bring variations to the market. The Narrative ‘Chief’ is a ankle length leather lace-up boot with contrast panels, stitched round toe and thick Redwing style outsole. The tonal warm black color story adds a new element you can’t get from Redwing setting you apart from the guy next to you. Available at Asos, $288.

We know we just featured Narrative’s Autumn/Winter collection a couple of weeks back, but we couldn’t hold back on this any longer. The SS09 collection is just as varied as the last, featuring everything from high tops to moccasins to suede brogues.  While the A/W collection focused on muted tones, the SS09 collection is much brighter with white, blue and red all making several appearances over the collection.
