Video | Alexander Olch, a Beautiful Model and the Four-in-Hand Knot

20 December 2011, 23.00 | Posted in Accessories | No comments »

Alexander Olch and TheCorner.com produced this new video short on how to tie Olch’s favorite necktie knot, the four-in-hand. Model Aurelie Claudel is clearly more beautiful than Olch, but we still hear him narrating this one. That’s ok.
Directed by Matt Lenski.

Jonathan Bartlett illustrates the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection of neckwear from Pierrepont Hicks using animal and insect mugshots to promote the looks. The line-ups are very well done and bring a humorous touch to the seriousness of neckties and bowties. Bartlett’s illustrations will also be on sale at the artist’s site in October. The collection goes on sale tomorrow.

Designboom sheds some light on the winners of their Hermes tie competition. While the winners were announced a while back, the inclusion of the ties into the Hermes collection itself held back a proper viewing of the works. “the winners of the ‘les cravates par Hermès’ competition were announced last november, however Hermès wanted to include the winning designs in their next collection, prompting us to keep the results under wraps, until the collection was ready and presented at Hermès stores. Within the next week or so, the complete data of the shortlisted winners, including images, will be revealed. stay tuned!” Above is one of the shortlisted entries from Sergio Studer.

Selectism - Ernest Alexander Neckwear and Squares

A reader (or maybe a PR rep) tipped us off to some neckwear and pocket squares from NYC’s Ernest Alexander. Seems like a lot of Alexander named companies producing these goods (including shirting) pop out of the Big Apple (side note). In his own words, “Clean lines. Rugged materials. Authentic finishes. Functionality. Hard-to-find fabrics. These are the things that make for a distinctive, wearable experience. I also believe that the way we make things is equally as important.” Ernest Alexander also kicks out a bunch of other accessories so be sure to explore the site.
