The Ace Hotel is about to expand their hotel empire beyond West Coast to New York City. The new Ace Hotel NYC will be located on the corner of 29th and Broadway inside a defunct luxury hotel. Like their locations in Seattle and Portland, OR, the Ace Hotel designs their rooms with minimalism and functionality. Decor for Ace Hotel NYC include found objects, artwork, and of course, comfortable beds. If the NYC ace Hotel is anything like the Portland version, we’re sure it will be a success. Keep you eyes out for the Ace Hotel Palm Springs soon. (images via watm)

Selectism - Seize sur Vingt Bespoke Shirts and Suits

Yes! I finally used the word "bespoke" in a piece. Bespoke. The word itself sounds nothing like its mean when used by Americans but, it’s been having a hell of a year! Not many words outside of maybe "collaboration" can boast such wide numbers of mention in print during 2008. The word itself has cause such controversy that in the UK some tailors have sued for misuse.

With that out of the way, lets focus on New York’s Seize sur Vingt on Elizabeth Street. "Following the tradition of the bespoke clothier, we make finely tailored clothing for men and women, whose fabrics and fit are both youthful and elegant. We have men and womenâs custom and ready-to-wear shirts and suits, sportswear, shoes, and beautifully made accessories. "

With prices ranging from 140$ to 160$US for ready to wear shirts, there is something for all budgets. (photo via timeout)

Selectism - Moscot Popup at Earnest Sewn

For over 90 years, Moscot has been an eyewear “institution” in New York City. The Moscot Classic frame sets are very recognizable and still continue to sell well decades past their introduction.

To complement their three doors in NYC, Moscot, in conjunction with denim rockers, Earnest Sewn, will open a a pop-up shop inside Sewn’s NY digs highlighting their collaborative “Buffalo Horn MOSCOT Lemtosh frames.” As noted on R29, “Earnest Sewn’s 420-square-foot installation space will be designed in homage to MOSCOT’s initial Rivington location, a shop that once gave the gift of sight (and cool) to Buddy Hollys, Johnny Depps, and plain old ladies alike.” Look for it in April.
