Nigel Cabourn ‘Big Stripe’ Multicoloured Oxford Shirt

Cabourn stripe shirt 01 Nigel Cabourn Big Stripe Multicoloured Oxford Shirt

Cards on the table. The first time we saw this our immediate thought was ‘finally, something to wear at the Carlton Banks Wine mixer’. Whether or not Nigel Cabourn intended this to be a classic piece of 90s Bel-Air prepwear has yet to be revealed, either way it works very nicely.

100% cotton, Made in Japan, it features a hidden button down collar. Nigel Cabourn does quietly cool touches like a pro and we appreciate it. The Front placket steers this away from the traditional Oxford a little and we’re told that each shirt will have an individual stripe pattern depending on where scissor hit cloth. All that is needed is some pastel sweater action to throw over your shoulders. Delightful. Hit Superdenim for yours.

Nigel Cabourn Limited Edition 2: “Scott’s Last Expedition”

NIgel Cabourn "Scott's Last Expedition" Limited Edition 2

Nigel Cabourn’s Limited Edition 1 collection, “The Ascent of Cabourn,” inspired by Sir Edmund Hillary, came in 2003. Yesterday, on the 100th anniversary of Captain’s Scott’s mission to the South Pole, Nigel Cabourn released Limited Edition 2 collection: Scott’s Last Expedition.

The “Scott’s Last Expedition” collection by Nigel Cabourn consists of 12 garments, each produced in an edition of 100; as well as 300 pieces of accessories is a six year project in the making. Working with the Scott Polar Research Institute, Cabourn reproduced garments as worn by R.F. Scott’s crew on the South Pole endeavor, in that detailed – almost obsessively correct – manner that he is known for.

A book, examining Scott’s Expedition and the garments honestly reproduced by Cabourn, is available. We’ll share looks inside at a later time. For now, examine these images from the collection as shown in Berlin.

Red Wing showcases the collection that will land on European shores for Autumn/Winter 2012 here in Berlin. Fans of the heritage line will be impressed with the new boots, which includes a dual-pack for the Nigel Cabourn collection (one pair shown above). I believe in the United States and Japan the offering for Autumn/Winter 2012 will be even wide. We’ll monitor for you and return with more information. More at Red Wing Heritage.

Pitti – Nigel Cabourn for Eddie Bauer Autumn/Winter 2012

Back with more from Pitti Uomo.

Into its second season is the excellent Nigel Cabourn collection for Eddie Bauer. We’re told that the collection will be made available through select shops and there is much to be excited about. The archive digging Cabourn pulled out a good deal of fresh gems for the second collection. Specialty fabrics developed in the 1970’s by Woolrich for Eddie Bauer get a second life. British millerain sites against 1970’s Bauer textiles in various forms. The Trapper jackets are standouts looks.

One note for those that still wonder on the price point of the collection: consider that the quilted parkas are hand stuffed and require more than five hours of work for each garment to produce. Cabourn refuses to compromise and we’re happy to see that Eddie Bauer agrees.

nigel cabourn eddie bauer vests 1 Nigel Cabourn for Eddie Bauer Canadian Vests

Way back in January, we previewed the Nigel Cabourne work for Eddie Bauer. We mentioned it looked to be an EU exclusive and this still remains. END has stock on two excellent “Canadian Vests” from the collection. Avaialble in orange check and midnight blue, the vests were originally designed for the military but today, flipped in the way only Cabourn can: Harris Tweed hits, square quilting with calf skin shoulders.

Nigel Cabourn Men’s Coastal Command Sheepskin Jacket

Nigel Cabourn Men's Coastal Command Sheepskin Jacket

Nigel Cabourn has once again fashioned something rather special with grand historical significance, this time with his reinterpretation of a WW1 classic – the coastal commander’s sheepskin jacket.  The jacket has been produced in tastefully distressed leather featuring a hand-painted hood and 100% sheepskin inner, the later providing prime insulation as we collectively flirt with the idea of autumnal attire.  Available at LN-CC.

BBB | Nigel Cabourn Jacket for Spring/Summer 2012

We thought we’d seen it all at Pitti but Cabourn’s still got a couple of tricks up his sleeve. This jacket is a new addition (or, more realistically, didn’t get made in time for Pitti) to the family and it’s another piece of Cabourn goodness for you to salivate over.
