Nike Crewneck Sweatshirt

Selectism - nike-cashmere-crewneck-01

It’s sale pick time. We’re so excited we were tempted to put an exclamation point in that last sentence, but common sense got the better of us. For us, sale time is the time to stock up on all those ’staple’ pieces you’ve always wanted for a cheaper price. We like to take a risk as much as the next man but a good grey crewneck never goes out of fashion. And even if it does, we’ll still be wearing ours. (End)

Nike SB Huntsman Jacket

Selectism - nike-huntsman-jacket-01

Here’s one for the O.J.L (orange jacket lovers). Nike have been making a steadier appearance here on SL and, contrary to popular belief, it’s not because we’re suffering a streetwear relapse. They’ve just been making some good casual pieces and this jacket is one of them. The pricetag is a smoove £95 and it’s perfect for the guys who want to look good on the cheap. (Flatspot)

Nike Vintage Blazer High

Selectism - nike-vintage-blazer-01

We’d been hearing about the death of trainers (or sneakers if you’re a pedantic American) for a while and we’d always thought it to be a little silly. Who stops wearing trainers purely because they have some nice shoes? So, in praise of the ‘everything in moderation’ theory, we’re posting up these high top blazers. We might even wear it with an overcoat if we’re feeling bawsy. (End)

NSW M-65 Jacket

Selectism - nike-sportswear-M65-Jacket-01

We’ve been enamoured with the white raincoat lately and here’s another one for your liking. This time it’s from Nike Sportswear, so it may be a little too street for some. Others should just appreciate the crispiness (we can use that phrase without fearing a spoof comeback now everyone’s bored of fuckyeahmenswear). [Aloha Rag]

Experiencing Harris Tweed

11 November 2010, 10.30 | Posted in Sneakers | No comments »

selectism - harris-tweed-nikes

Style Salvage (or savage, we hear they like being called both) get all tweedy with their latest post. The team took a trip to Harris Tweed Hebrides, taking in a hefty amount of factory porn alongside some scenery shots. The team were sent over to check the new Nikes, which were made using Harris Tweed. The end product’s looking prett-y good, too. It’s a long read, so get a cup of coffee and take some time out of your day and hop on over to Style Salvage/Savage.

Arsenal 2010/11 Home Kit by Nike

selectism - Arsenal 2010/11 Home Kit by Nike

Ever wonder where our allegiance lies? Let us be blunt.*

The new 2010/11 home kit for the greatest football club on earth, Arsenal, hit shops today. It features a block red body, white round collar and white sleeves. Essentially, the shirt returns to the 1970s style of direct red and white contrast. While other clubs have employed useless and non-traditional shirt unveiling this Summer – we’re looking at you, Man City -  our club does a launch with typical class (i.e. quietly and without Craig Bellamy).

Sadly, we are not so chuffed about the new goalkeeper shirt. However, you can still check it after the jump.

*Well, 2 out of 3. Jeff has a misguided affair with Chelsea going.

First Look | My N98 Muse

Selectism - nike-98-collection-01

(L-R: Katie Eary, Tim Soar)

We don’t usually post up much Nike here (that’s what our big bro High Snob is for) but Nike’s latest collab is well suited to SL. Nike and Tank magazine teamed up to bring together six designers to re-imagine the N98 track jacket with a 2012 Olympic hopeful. Designers included the likes of Tim Soar, Sibling and Katie Eary, who were given free reign to work on these jackets. The athletes included Martyn Rooney (no relation as far as we know), Danny Care and Charlotte Purdue. While we’re not familiar with these names just yet, we’re sure to be come 2012.

Take a leap to see the rest of the collection.

Nike Match Classic Varsity Red Trainers

Selectism - nike-match-classic-fujiwara-trainer-1

Bargain lovers that we are, we’ve found another pair of cheap and cheerful trainers that’ll get you through the summer months. We’re not crazy about most things that are pre-beaten up to give off the ‘vintage look’ but these are a handsome pair of trainers. And, at £45, they’re much more affordable than our usual fare.  Wear them with those Umit Benan overalls we featured yesterday (whaddya mean you didn’t buy them?) [End]

Song remains the same, detailed images after the leap.

Nike QS All Courts

Selectism - nike-quickstrike-all-courts-02

We don’t usually feature Nike (or Crooked Tongues for that matter) but we’re all about the piece as opposed to the brand. And if you’re a fan of Jack Purcells, Springcourts or any other clean summer sneaker, these Nike All Courts will be right up your alley. They tick all our boxes for summer footwear as they’re handsome and affordable. For footwear you’ll only be wearing for three months, that’s all you need. (Crooked Tongues)

Song remains the same, detailed images after the leap.

Nike United States Men’s National Soccer Team Home Kit

30 April 2010, 18.48 | Posted in Fashion | 1 comment »

selectism - Nike United States Men’s National Soccer Team Home Kit

Given the fixture on June 12, there should be little surprise that the victorious  1-0 scoreline from US v. England clash in the 1950 World Cup provides inspiration for the new American home strip. In 1950, the team playing in Brazil wore a white shirt with blue sash. The feel of the sash is retained in the new shirt, though given a subtle gray tone, evoking the spirit of one of the most important US National team sides on its 60th anniversary.

The new strip was designed by Nike Soccer creative director Phil Dickenson. He unveiled the kit yesterday morning, alongside US manager Bob Bradley, former team member Eric Wynalda, and 1950 Captain Walter Bahr. Dickenson stressed the need to establish a lineage and tradition in the National Team kit – the design also featuring a hidden coiled rattlesnake and the text “Don’t Tread on Me,” a phrase used for over two centuries in the United States and now part of the USMNT’s patriotic call. Bradley championed the shirt’s technical detailing. Wynalda seemed chuffed by the jersey, and perhaps a bit envious of the current crop of players.

At 83, Bahr best articulated the feeling of the new shirt. He said, “I like it. It’s classy.”And, on the nods to the shirt of his playing days, he noted, “They had a good design in the 1950s, why change it?”
