Nom De Guerre Peacoat

Selectism - nom-de-guerre-peacoat-01

This isn’t exactly seasonally appropriate. In fact it’s really bloody seasonally inappropriate. But it is one of the last NDG pieces we can find – the label shut down not too long ago – and it’s on sale. So you’ve been on the lookout for a peacoat then  this should be the one for you. We won’t even judge you for looking at peacoats during one of the hottest months of the year. (Nomad)

Nom De Guerre Heavy Wool Cardigan

Sometimes we make recommendations that are so obvious we can’t even think of anything witty to say – like this chunky cardigan for instance. It’s cold out, so wrap up warm in a good cardigan and sit by the fire with some mulled wine and a copy of the hunter’s handbook. It’s the nu-workwear way. (Tres Bien)

Converse for Nom de Guerre Skid Grip Sneaker

Selectism - Converse for Nom de Guerre Skid Grip Sneaker

The Converse team is doing it right these days with a solid selection of one offs that bring excellent color and textile options to an archive which is only now being tapped. This pair of Skid Grip trainers drops at Nom de Guerre online and in-store this Friday for $95. They’re made from rubberized canvas fabric in jet black. Nothing to complain about here. Highsnob has a great video preview on this trainer as well. #want

Nom De Guerre Camo Shirt/Jacket

We know camo is back with a bang and all but, with the menswear world still as focused on workwear as it is, it’s an easy pattern to get wrong. We know what you’re thinking – how can I go wrong with camouflage? For one, you could pick a pattern that’s a little too loud. And when you’ve been wearing nothing but navy and beige, it’s the clothing equivalent of going from 0-60 in one second. So, for now, we advise you keep it calm with a subdued camo pattern like this NDG number. (Tres Bien)

Take a leap to see another look at this shacket (yep, we’re calling it that)

Nom De Guerre Spring/Summer 2010

Selectism - Nom De Guerre Spring/Summer 2010

Our big brother gives the lowdown on the Spring/Summer 2010 Nom de Guerre collection. Branded “Combat Continues,” “the line takes its inspiration from military clothing and makes use of a lot of camouflage patterns. Looks are very sharp this season and as usual we like a lot what we see from the New York brand.”

Selectism - Wings + Horns for Nom de Guerre Grey Jacket

We previewed this “collaboration” at (capsule) recently on Highsnob. This is their usual post coverage but this jacket works for us as well. Here’s an in season (and stock) look at the grey jacket from Nom de Guerre as produced by Wings + Horns. Some specs from Coggles. “Grey marl, woven jersey jacket, fleece lined with striped collar, cuffs and hem and two front pockets. The jacket also features a two way zip front and over locked seams.”

Nom De Guerre Heavy Jumper

Here’s a tip for all you budding online retailers – don’t stock Nom de Guerre. NDG are great, but everyone is stocking them this season. You can’t swing a virtual cat without hitting an online retailer stocking the label – it’s reached a point where we’re picking out NDG pieces based on how well they’re styled. Take this Jumper for instance. It’s been on other sites but Tres Bien were the best at styling it and so we featured their version. Our stance still stands on wool/nylon blends – don’t do it – but the front pockets make up for it. It doesn’t take much to please us sometimes. (Tres Bien)

Nom De Guerre Coated Canvas Duffel Bag

05 August 2009, 10.30 | Posted in Accessories | 1 comment »

selectism - nom-de-guerre-duffle-bag-01

Nom De Guerre’s AW09 collection has ‘dropped’, as they say, at Oki-Ni. There’s plenty of good pieces but we thought we should bring special attention to this duffel. Duffel bags are starting to feel like heritage brand backstories – everybody’s got one – but the sheer size (it’s huge!) and coated canvas material make it stand out. It’s no good for overseas trips (too big for check-in, not sturdy enough to take a beating in baggage) but it’s great for those extended stays at your girlfriend’s/boyfriend’s house. (Oki-Ni)

Selectism - Nom De Guerre Suit Waistcoats

Two great waistcoats from the Nom De Guere collection are available now from Oki-ni. They come in black and brown and feature wool front and black striped polyester back. The flap pockets are also fully lined. Both waistcoats work well with a variety of looks. A nice addition to your wardrobe.

Nom de Guerre Classic Fit Denim Shorts

nom de guerre shorts front Nom de Guerre Classic Fit Denim Shorts

Spring denim shorts make a return from Nom de Guerre. In shads of mustard (a trend today on the site) and grey, they are rugged choices for day wear and appear low key. We prefer them to cut off blue denim. That’s for sure. Available now from Gravity Pope.
