I have to say the new Nonnative lookbook for Spring 2011 has me interested. “The Bluffer’s Code” collection is outstanding. The collection is awfully wearable by everyman. Looks stay within a focused look of classic casual wear with the addition of something unique. Could it be the colors? I think it’s the accessories – from bags to eyewear. A clear standout in the Spring 2011 pack.

The Japanese menswear line, Nonnative, shows us there take on the classic hunters tweed jacket. “According to brand director Satoshi Saffen, the brand works closely with each factory to ensure each and every garment is produced in Japan.” The shell is 50% wool, 30% cotton and 20% nylon. The lining is made of 100% cotton. A slim fitting tweed jacket that has snaps on the wrists to unravel the jacket so you may roll the sleeves up. A great detail that allows you to manipulate the piece with different outfits. This is definitely a jacket, you wouldn’t want to wear on top of a hooded sweatshirt. (Rodengray)

The details speak for themselves on these Nonnative “Dweller” sneakers which work off the classic basketball high-top. The biggest talking point? They’re waterproof! Gore-Tex lines the leather. The outer is monkey-suede cowskin. Japan made. RG has them.

Two cardigan options form the Nonnative world which are not only baseline, but just about what you need from a classic, no-frills garment (sans the simple safety pin closure). “A chunky knit worker’s cardigan from cult Japanese label Nonnative. This piece is detailed with a thick rib shawl collar, thick rib cuffs and hem and a kilt pin fastening.  Made in Japan.” Oki-ni has them.

Keep those hands and wrists warm with a pair of knits form the Nonnative collection. “Hunter knit gloves from Nonnative’s Fall 10 collection. Made from 80% wool and 20% nylon, these fingerless gloves and detailed with a purple, brown and off-white intarsia knit and are available in one size only.” Oki-ni has them.

A beautiful pair of Tricker’s boots comes as part of the nonnative Autumn/Winter 2010 Collection. The high rise boot will be available in three colorways, each featuring an orange accent on the heel. The above suede version is our personal favorite. These will be available from early October.

Oki-ni received a delivery of new eyewear from the nonnative line. Two frames are available: the “Dweller”and “Courier.” These “sunglasses produced exclusively by renowned Japanese eyewear label Kaneko Optical for Nonnative.  Choose between the black wayfarer style “Courier”  or the marble acetate half frame “Dweller.”

New headgear which is safe for wear off the shores of the Mississippi. nonnative delivers three “Voyager Hats” for your perusal. The braided hats are finished in brown, black, and wheat. They call the last one beige but I like wheat better. All three are quality with the Made in Japan stamp of approval.

Japanese brand Nonnative is presenting a great piece in their Fall/Winter 2008 collection – the Woven Wool Windstopper Storm Parka. The upper is made out of wool, yet the Windstopper lining will keep you warm. Especially the grey colorway looks fantastic, is functional without looking too technical. Via Star-J.

The crossover of American heritage and quality Japanese design keeps on trucking. One of the latest additions to the crossover market are these sneakers by Pennsylvania’s own Brooks.
