What’s the best thing to happen since sliced bread? Sliced notebooks. From designer Burak Kaynak and Cem Has comes the sliced bread notebook concept, which features 12 notebooks that resemble a a loaf a bread. All the pads are numbered 1-12, for the corresponding months. The design is clean and sharp. These little guys are perfect for writing down your latest ideas or your groceries. (baxterfinley)

The “cool kids” rock moleskins. Real m’f'ers rock Rhodia all day – No.16 to be precise. Paul Smith knows this as well which is why they have teamed with Rhodia to celebrate the French brand’s 75th anniversary with a set of special designer edition notebooks. Founded in Lyon, France in 1934, Rhodia has become a standard notebook in European households and beyond for decades. the collaborative notebooks with Paul Smith feature the standard orange as as well a black edition with various designs on the covers.

The black Paul Smith covers for Rhodia have my name written all over them. I’m sold. Look for them at the end of May. 5×5 graph paper runs.

Postalco, a favorite in the world of unique stationary has teamed with retailer, Opening Ceremony, on a series of wallets and notebooks to be sold through their stores in New York, Los Angeles, and Postalco’s Kyobashi Shope in Japan. The collection pulls inspiration from traditional Japanese geometry of the Edo Period (1603-1867). The patterns were drawn on wooden tablets called “Sangaku” and were hung under temple and shrine roofs to pay thanks to god for the discovery of the mathematical theorem.

Field Notes The Kit

field notes brand the kit Field Notes The Kit

The Field Note pocket ledgers have been found in the back trouser pockets of boys and girls from Oregon to Maine. And why not? The size of the ledger competes well against the moleskin market but with a more classic look (we love the Futura typeface used throughout!). With the holidays around the corner, it may be time to consider stocking up your friends with this great gift pack from Field Notes. “The Kit” comes with enough goods to keep receiver content for some time – 6 Field Note ledges, 6 Field Note ball points pens, 6 Field Note pencils, and one hang on the wall Field Note 18 Month Calendar.

Not a bad deal for 26.95$US. If you have no one to buy “The Kit” for, you can happily donate one to the Selectism offices. We’ll work them.

Little Fury – Start Here Notebooks

little fury start here linkable notebooks - highsnobiety

Since we carry a notebook around all the time to take note of what is going on around us, we are also on a constant search for the best notebooks out there. Recently we came across Little Fury, which introduces an interesting new concept into this otherwise very stagnant market.

Little Fury is the design collaborative of Esther Mun and Tina Chang. The two met in New York at Pentagram, and after a few stints at different offices, started Little Fury with the design philosophy:

No design for the sake of design.

No “overdone” products.

No “cutesy doodads”.

Simplicity. Functionality. Practicality. Innovation. Individuality.

The result is an impressive portfolio of branding/identity projects and gorgeous product packaging, including the product series Start Here – a set of linkable notebooks and planners. Individual notebooks can be linked together as you need and customized with self-adhesive pockets and colorful tabs. The cover is stain resistant, waterproof, and tear-resistant, and the interior paper is available in blue, grey, white, pink, manila, and green. Via Notcot.
