Number (N)ine for Ace Elk Belt

Selectism - number-nine-ace-hotel-belt

Number (N)ine continue their (extremely long) victory lap with this Elk belt. We’re not sure if we’d call it a collaboration as such, he was merely ‘inspired by Portland and his stays at Ace Hotel’ as opposed to brain storming ideas with the group, but they’re handsome belts nonetheless. Selectism - number-nine-charles-peterson-blazer-01

LN-CC have just launched their latest archive feature, this time picking up several gems from the now deceased line, Number (N)ine. There’s a shedload of stuff to choose from, but our favourite is this blazer, which uses an image taken by photographer Charles Peterson. Call us crazy (and a lot of you will) but we think this is a great and wearable piece. Well, as wearable as blazer with a picture of a crowd at a concert can ever be. (LN-CC)

Selectism - Takahiro Miyashita To Launch The Soloist, Ltd

It would seem as though former Number (N)ine mastermind,  Takahiro Miyashita, is back with something new for the market. Not much is known yet on what will come of “The Soloist, Ltd.” Not much is known at this time outside of the focus being on menswear. The collection is set to launch in July via an exhibition. No runway show it would seem. (fsnap)

Some more images of the announcement for  Takahiro Miyashita’s The Soloist Ltd. line after the click.

An interesting take on the collarless shirt from Japan’s Number (N)ine. Made to be worn out, the beige, white, and lilac check features a button down front that stops at the waist. The tail on the back of the shirt is patterned in black. Check the photos for the details. Take it for what it is. (browns)

Number (N)ine to close

number nine closure Number (N)ine to close

The news has been doing the rounds over the weekend, but we felt we should start the week with this news for posterity. Number (N)ine’s recently displayed AW09 collection – which was called ‘a closed feeling’ – will be their last. Hint Magazine received a letter from the company stating that “When you’re finished changing, you’re finished”. Whether founding member Takahiro Miyashita will start up another company remains to be seen, but this seems to be one designer closure that has nothing to do with the economy.

Number Nine Shearling Jackets

number nine shearling coat Number Nine Shearling Jackets

Number Nine’s AW08 show was a lumberjack fest and it remains the go-to brand if you’re a firm believer in that particular look. This Wool shearling coat can look a little unspectacular until you see it styled right, which is why we’ve included the catwalk shot above. The check pattern is almost becoming standard for this season, but the huge collar makes it stand out. Get it from Farfetch.com.

selectism - Number (N)ine Fall/Winter 2008 Coats

Browns got in a good range of the new Number (N)ine Fall/Winter 2008 collection. We take a look at the Japanese  brand’s coats for the season.

We like the fusion of materials that come out of work-wear with more luxurious materials, such as fur, in the case of Number (N)ine. Especially the "Check Coat" (above left) caught our eye. Perfect for the colder months.
