Check this: ODIN is heading to Target. Yes, Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi are working a special in-shop collection for Target’s “The Shops at Target” initiative which will showcase a variety of goods from small fashion lines and beyond. “For their Target collection, Eddy and Paul wanted to appeal to a broad range of people—catering to both the sartorially savvy and the guy who’s worn the same pair of jeans his whole life.”

The ODIN collection for The Shops at Target will features a limited collection of sweaters, henleys, button-downs, pants, shoes and accessories – all available in stores and online at Target.com on September 9.

It is very ’90s of us, but when we read the term “unisex fragrance” we still think of the breathy campaign that launched CK One. Of course, Calvin Klein never presented his boy-girl musk in an environment that looks sort of like Superman’s house, which is what we are seeing here: a temp space designed by Snarkitecture for Odin’s entire run of both-way eaux de toilette and their Home Fragrances candles.

The clean, monochromatic lines and black-on-black motif of Odin Fragrances and Home Fragrances packaging illustrates the relationship between minimalist-inspired design and the the balance of masculine versus feminine. Snarkitecture responded by creating a polar opposite in all white and emphasized the bottle by casting replicas in white plaster for the instillation.

Looks like a fun room to wander through, and our pie-eyed inner optimists cannot help but find a bit of glory in the fact that men and women are more inclined than ever to wear the same cologne—unity! The store opened yesterday in the East Village and will remain so from Noon to 7pm daily for the next six weeks.

Odin’s latest fragrance, 07, is their latest unisex offering developed with Paris-based Drom perfumer Corinne Cachen. “Layering classically American scents inspired by the woods and surrounding waters of Northern California, 07 Tanoke arrives at a clean, crisp aroma that is grounded with a natural warmness. The masculine and feminine dichotomy that defines Odin Fragrances.” The 100ml bottle retails for $120 at ODIN NYC, Barneys and other retailers.

Richard Chai delivers a new set of custom black leather driving gloves for Acura. They’re inspired by the latest super-hero flick in theaters now (think big hammer). They should be available at ODIN.

While Our Legacy can be found in many doors throughout Europe, it’s a bit more difficult to find the U.S. Hopefully this will change but until then, those in New York City can swing by ODIN. Our Legacy has taken up space in ODIN and features a wide range of the look their Spring/Summer 2011. I consider then to be one of the best menswear brands out there. The fit is always on point and cut for modern men.

ODIN’s latest installation worked with Burkman Brothers, entitled “Himalayan Shop” will feature many looks from the said brothers Autumn 2010 collection. “Weaving this inspiration with their naturally strong sensibility for classic American sportswear, the Burkmans created a distinctive fall collection that fuses East with West in a comfortable masculine aesthetic.” The shop should be open now.

We covered the Rag & Bone for ODIN jackets not too long ago. We figured it may be a good time to check out some more of the collection. The Yokohama Shirt is another standout. “A soft cotton fabric with distressed painted hardware, chain-stitched seams and a pleat down the back, giving the shirt nice detailing and a tailored fit. 100% cotton.”

Rag & Bone issues a small collection of goods exclusive for ODIN NYC. The collection, part of their Spring/Summer 2010 offering, features coast, jackets, and shirts – all of which offer distinct pieces for each of us. We’ll focus on the jackets and coats in this look. The Work Utility Jacket is a favorite of mine. The short waist length (shirtlike) makes it a perfect fit for the 5′7″ guys. “Versatile jacket with rounded collar. Four front pockets with one button flap pocket, workable button cuffs, tab collar.” Be sure to check out the “Hunting Grouse” and trench as well.

Though men may not wear women’s fragrances, many women prefer to rock the scents developed for me. For this reason, (one directional) unisex fragrances may start to push harder than ever. Odin is right their with their take on the scent game. “Eddy Chai and Paul Biradi have teamed up with Larry Paul and Kelly Kovack of Purpose-Built for a line of unisex fragrances. After working with German perfumer Drom on the development of three distinct fragrances over the course of a year, Odin Fragrances is set to launch, being carried exclusively in the Los Angeles area at Studio Beautymix @ Fred Segal, as well as nationally at other locations.” (fashonisto)

WWD reports in on a new “collection” bringing together NY’s retailer Odin with Duckie Brown. “Edward, the collaboration between Duckie Brown and the influential boutique Odin, will launch Nov. 1. After the debut at Odin’s three locations, Edward’s four creators are hoping to expand distribution of the contemporary label. …Duckie Brown designers Daniel Silver and Steven Cox are known for artistic flourishes in their designer collection, but Edward … is a commercial endeavor, which takes cues from the merchandising insights of Odin co-owners Eddy Chai and Paul Birardi.”
