Officine Panerai New Editions of Radiomir Watch Set

Officine Panerai loves their Radiomir watches. Since Stallone brought the iconic watch form to the USA (that’s at least the story), the Radiomir has grown in popularity beyond almost all. Today the Officine Panerai celebrated the them with 11 special edition Radiomir sets featuring three new watches in white gold, pink gold and platinum: the Radiomir 3 Days Platino, the Radiomir 3 Days Oro Bianco and Radiomir 3 Days Oro Rosa. Each comes in at 47mm. Big money balling on these. tip: tz

Damien Hirst Panerai Paintings

damienhirst panerai 01 Damien Hirst Panerai Paintings

Damien Hirst, one of the artworld’s great show-offs, has taken apart luxury watches from Officine Panerai for a new series of work showing at the Triennale di Milano. These spin paintings entitled ‘Beautiful Sunflower’ and ‘Beautiful Fractional Sunflower’ were created by applying paint to a rotating canvas. Watch faces are then applied by hand, Damien claims to be an OP fan but with so many good timepieces losing their life for his work you really have to wonder. (Design Boom)

Panerai Luminor Submersible PAM 371 Watch

Panerai Luminor Submersible PAM 371 Watch

Perpetuelle brings us a look at one of the new timepieces for 2011 from Panerai. which comes in at $11,600. “While the price seems a bit high, it is comparable to other exciting new Panerai models such as the PAM 382 “Bronze” (which can be had for a slightly lower price), and I think that the PAM 371 is a solid choice if you are looking for a more contemporary Panerai dive watch. The PAM 371 features a 47mm brushed titanium case, an automatic-wind movement (the Panerai P.9001), and the requisite dive-watch functions such as a unidirectional rotating bezel, luminous bezel dot, rubber strap, and 300 meter water resistance.”

Panerai Luminor Composite PAM 386 Watch

Panerai Luminor Composite PAM 386 Watch

It is not often that I get excited for a new Panerai but Perpetuelle’s write-up on the new 386 is tasty. “Here’s a first look at the new Panerai PAM 386 which will be officially unveiled in Geneva at SIHH 2011.   Much like the Panerai Radiomir Composite PAM 339 which was arguably the most popular Panerai of 2010, there is no doubt that the PAM00386 will be a huge hit with Panerai fans, probably even bigger than the PAM 339.”

Panerai Luminor Marina PAM 366 “Fu” China Watch

Panerai preps another limited run of the Luminor Marina. The PAM 366 “Fu” is issues in 1,500 units and priced at $4,400 for those looking to add or complement their collection. Perpetuelle finds it all a bit “questionable.” “The reason for this watch seems to be that, after five successful years in the market, Panerai wants to show that it respects and understands the Chinese culture.  Or something like that.  I fail to see the connection, but it is entirely possible that I in fact do not understand the Chinese culture like Panerai does.”

Officine Panerai 42mm Radiomir in Rose Gold Watch

Selectism - Officine Panerai 42mm Radiomir in Rose Gold Watch

Now, some in the Selectism offices will argue that rose gold is about to be the breakout color of 2010 for wrist watches. While we do not tend to trend out so easily, Panerai’s addition of an 18kt Radiomir in their new 42mm casing must be a good sign. Look for it in January 2010. Nice call, David. (timezone)
