acne ss12 jkt 01 Acne Spring Summer 2012 Dandy Stripe Blazer

Oki-ni recently received a delivery of Spring Summer 2012 goods from Acne. Yes, Spring Summer. It’s ok to think about the months ahead. Imagining what it’ll be like to wear two layers instead of five won’t jinx it or anything. We laugh in the face of superstition with this ‘Dandy stripe’ blazer. Soft, lightweight striped cotton, two walnut buttons. Yeah, go on, look directly at it Winter. Your time will soon be up.

George Cox for Oki-ni Chukka Boots

Oki-ni works over some George Cox chukkas for a personal exclusive. “oki-ni have reworked George Cox’s classic Chukka into three distinct boots for Fall 10, available in sand/red, agate blue/yellow and grey/royal blue colourway’s. All styles feature a natural leather lining in navy, with matching laces and the natural plantation crepe sole that George Cox is renowned for. New Faces of Menswear | Omar Kashoura Interview

09 April 2010, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Selectism - omar-kashoura-oki-ni-interview

Oki-Ni have a nice interview up with Omar Kashoura. Well, we say interview, it’s more of a friendly chat in print form. Without giving away the whole thing, here’s a snippet of Mr. Skelton’s chat with Omar Kashoura.

John Skelton | As a designer do you set out with the intention of creating a brand?
Omar Kashoura | I think at the beginning you set out to become a brand, to create a brand but after 2 seasons you’re like ‘forget the brand, I want to make money!’. As a designer, to see that your line is going to turn into a big brand is quite a distant thing and a bit of a dream really. But for me personally, quality is the most important thing. You can tell when the product has been made in an Italian mill, and that’s when it becomes a brand. That’s more what I want to happen- to be supported by one of these mills and have them produce everything from sample to production. I am very involved in the sample process, I do a lot of sewing myself and I enjoy it but it does get really frustrating trying to maintain quality and still keep up with demands of being a young designer.

selectism - Oki-Ni interviews Taichi Fujimatsu from Master-Piece

Dan Mitchell of Oki-Ni interviews Taichi Fujimatsu from Master-Piece (translation by Jonny Nash).

Dan: As you  know, we are big fans of Master-Piece and are really happy to be stocking the brand.  It’s been a while since we last met – about a year if I remember correctly. I guess you have been pretty busy in the last 12 months?

Fujimatsu-san: Yes, I’ve been pretty busy – spending my time working on designing our new collection, and sourcing new fabrics.

Sure – one thing that really stands out about Master-Piece for me is the great colour palettes mixed with a real nice range of multi-fabrics and materials. Are all your fabrics sourced from Japan?

Yes, all fabrics and materials are sourced from Japan. We take our inspiration from everything around us, across all media and genres… our products are pretty much born from this.

Read on for more of the interview.

selectism - oki-ni-look-04-small

Here’s the last day of our Oki-Ni takeover. As it’s the end of the week, we thought we’d finish up with a casual outfit. It’s not a world changing fit so those looking for old fashioned inspiration should look elsewhere; this is an outfit where you appreciate the subtleties (like the meshing of colours) and relax a little.

Take a look at the full shot and product links after the leap.
