Sunglasses come in many shapes and sizes, essential if you’re heading out in the sun and want to save your eyes from being zapped. Oliver Peoples not only relaunch their website, but for the occasion also presents their next short film for their Spring 2012 Collection. The LA eyewear brand continues to work with photographer and director Lisa Eisner on their moving picture projects. This season they recruited actors Dakota Johnson and Thomas McDonell for the short film, which once again has a fantastic mood and attitude.

Oliver Peoples is set to release a new pair of frames, the Double Helix, designed by BECK, which is inspired by the musician’s collection of vintage sunglases from the 1980’s. Peoples and Beck spent more than two years working on the frames. “Using a vintage pattern from Italy as a base, custom-made material was produced that appears as clear stripes from the front, while appearing pink or yellow from the sides.”

Japan’s Porter bag line designed the special case for Oliver Peoples x BECK sunglasses. Availble for $595.

One for our ocularly challenged brethren out there. If your eyesight isn’t up to scratch and your glasses very much prescription rather than unnecessary stylistic flourish, we feel your pain. Luckily, being far or near sighted means you get to don some smart frames and imagine you’re Bruce Boyer or Gandhi. The Sheldrake is inspired by another legendary spectacle wearer (and hair genius) Andy Warhol. We were gonna start off this post with a Kreayashawn reference but we can’t even pretend to like that nonsense. Instead we’ll just point out that these are some handsome shades and you should look handsome wearing them. (Forward)

These beautiful frames from Oliver People’s for Takahiromiyashita are made up of new and deadstock components. The addition of the clip on is a solid bonus. While not my personal color, the amber finish on the acetate and shape make them some of the strongest frames on the market today. Hoping they land outside the Japan market as well. S2W8 has them.

Oliver Peoples celebrates their heritage in eyewear with a special “Vintage” collection. Three frames from their first collection are re-released in a limited set as an appreciation for those that have supported Oliver Peoples from the start.
