McNairy works his magic on this “Concrete Jungle” tote bag exclusive to Opening Ceremony’s Tokyo store. Not only is “concrete jungle” a defining term for NYC but also the name of one of the longest running jungle/drum and bass nights in the city (for the headz). In a new episode of Opening Ceremony TV, they put together this fun spot for Kenzo and Barney’s. “Keeping it all in the family, the video features Carlos, Mariko, Jen, Derek, Kate, Kyleigh, Annabelle, André, and Olivia. Say it together all now, ‘Kenzo!’.”

Just in time for the Olympics is the opening of a new Opening Ceremony shop in London. The 3,000 sq/ft shop will live at King Street in Covent Garden and open with a slew of London exclusives from Proenza Schouler, Chloë Sevigny for Opening Ceremony, Norma Kamali, Band of Outsiders, Delfina Delettrez, Christopher Shannon, Pamela Love, Kitsuné, Sunspel and Patrik Ervell.

A short film on smiles, dressing gowns and falling out of windows. Opening Ceremony takes on Godard’s Souris-Moi for the third in their AB/CD/CD Spring/Summer 2012 films showing the sunny collection in various odd situations.  Featuring Zoe Le Ber and Manuel Vallade, a rather sinister look at what happens when love turns weird. For earlier videos in the series click here. We have seen the novelty of a boxer modeling collections before, but it is a great idea that really brings the clothes to life, so we cannot fault Opening Ceremony for outfitting lightweight pugilist Eric Ramos with their Autumn/Winter 2012 gear. You could also argue that it opens up sartorial concerns to dudes who might not ordinarily consider such pursuits manly enough.

“The collection is heavy on Argentinean gaucho and military influences,” they tell us. “Durable fabrics like Melton wools, lightweight parachute nylons, and mohairs appear in deep olive, grey, ochre, and a custom camouflage print.” Most of this stuff is familiar territory as well, but OC has managed to make the military angles in particular their own with a sharp eye for street style.

We gave you a sneak peek at this much awaited collection from Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, now to delve a bit deeper. Much interest in the Opening Ceremony founders first menswear outing for the French house, turns out all the hype was well deserved. Kenzo have never really been afraid of a bit of colour so the pairing seemed a perfect match. Young, bright, plenty of print and enough wearable pieces to appease the more reserved out there, this was a spot on presentation. From slim overcoats to waist bomber jackets and oversized parkas, outerwear was the star of the show. Paisley and orange found their way onto the catwalk, as popular as ever, but everything was toned down with various shades of brown and navy. Full marks. More looks at WWD.

Duffels are the new backpack. Only joking, there’s no new backpack. There are backpacks and then there are other bags and you’re at liberty to pick whichever one suits your lifestyle best. Perhaps you might consider this collaboration between Opening Ceremony and Dubbel Duffle.

The company was a child of the 70’s, as the label might suggest, and was rediscovered by accessory designer China Young who set about bringing it back to life. Limited to 30 in each colourway, expandable to double its size, lightweight with over-sized reinforced handles that allow it to be carried rucksack or messenger style. The bag for all seasons. This is a technically a streetwear piece but you know the drill by now, the lines are blurring, it’s all one jumble, yada yada. This Sevigny/Opening Ceremony/Vision Streetwear collaboration is basically the ’90s distilled into a single garment. And like Chloe Sevigny, it looks a bit odd but it works. Opening Ceremony has it.

Highsnob shares these looks form the Opening Ceremony Fashion’s Night Out Event this past week. The carnival-like atmosphere was brought together to showcase not only new collaborative products, but bring together some of New York’s finest. FNO is a great night for a great cause.
