R29’s Pipeline comes through with some of the first looks at Opening Ceremony’s Spring/Summer 2009 Lookbook. As Tina Malred puts it, “With mens’ looks that recall both a trim version of old Calvin Klein and the original Ocean Pacific and Benetton styles… we can say that the next year is all about 1989.”

Opening Ceremony Autumn/Winter 2008

selctism - Opening Ceremony Autumn/Winter 2008

We present you two fantastic pieces out of the Opening Ceremony Autumn/Winter 2008 collection. The Shawl Collar Cardi is a toffee/navy buffalo plaid knit cardigan with a shawl collar and a wide navy rib along the bottom hem. We like how thick it is and how comfortable it looks.

Even better we think is the worker’s coat. It is made from 100% Woolrich wool. The black and white buffalo plaid winter coat comes with a black shawl collar and two button flap waist pockets, along with a vertical, welt pocket at the breast. The large buffalo plaid almost makes it elegant, rather than raw.

Both the Opening Ceremony Shawl Collar Cardi and the Worker’s Coat are now available at Oak.

Selectism - Opening Ceremony Lyrics Benefit T-Shirts

Opening Ceremony launches a great benefit project which brings attention to China with an Olympic vibe. As OC’s co-founders mention on their guest blog For the Moment , "We feel strongly that sports and music go hand-in-hand, we decided to ask some of our favorite musicians to give us an inspirational lyric that gets them pumped-up and ready for any competition. These lyrics will be screened onto a limited number of T-shirts and available, starting on the 8th, at our stores. The proceeds from this project will go towards a China earthquake relief fund."

Each of the artists involved in the t-shirt project for Opening Ceremony created the font face used and chose the lyrics. Look for shirts from the likes of Sonic Youth, M.I.A, Vampire Weekend, and others.

Selectism - Maui and Sons for Opening Ceremony

Classic surf brand, Maui and Sons, is relaunching with a hard push that carries heavily on their eighties roots in bright colored fashions. To help get things going, they have collaborated with Opening Ceremony on t-shirts and board shorts that re-use vintage Maui and Sons’ graphics and colors. Opening Ceremony’s Humberto Leon told R29, “I am highly anticipating the arrival of our Maui & Sons relaunch of the original pieces. I have been a huge fan of the brand since elementary school and to see some of the pieces that I have found in thrift stores all around the country being re-produced by the original company is super exciting.”

Available now at OAK and Opening Ceremony LA/NY.
