We’re not sure this falls anywhere close to our remit, but it’s too cool for us to keep to ourselves. We don’t even care how old it is really. (Notcot)

Selectism - bloggers-01

Don’t worry, this isn’t a series of pictures of us (although that would be amazing). In fact, this is a portrait series by Gabriela Herman, who’s captured several bloggers. We haven’t heard of many of the people featured – but ignore us, we’re luddites trapped in a bloggers body – but it’s a beautiful looking set of shots. (Swissmiss)

Soapstone Whiskey Stones from Vermont

Selectism - Soapstone Whiskey Stones from Vermont

This may well save our drinks this NYE. A watered down bourbon may be a preference to some, but to others it wounds the drink in a snuffer. How about we avoid the ice issue altogether? “A few great soapstone workers in Perkinsville, Vermont have created Whiskey Stones. These little ice-imitators are specially designed to put a slight chill in your Whiskey. All you do is put them in the freezer for a few hours and then pop a couple into a glass of single malt. Once you’re done, rinse, dry and do it all over again! And no need to worry about a watery drink, because these stones don’t dilute (that’s the best part). ” TG is sold out of them but UCG looks to still heave some in stock. (walyou)

Amron Experimental Leather Bandages

scott amrom band aids bandages Amron Experimental Leather Bandages

We’re getting there people. You know, that point where just about everything from a simple bandage can be converted into a work of luxury… in someone’s eyes. Amrom Experimental has issues some “Donor Skin” bandages of the “band-aid” variety, and I happen to like them. I doubt I would prefer them over the one use Band-Aid variant I would pick up at my local apothecary, but they’re interesting enough to get some reaction out of the crew. They’re 18$US. Short money for good look. (r29)

Another look at the Amron Exptl. Leather Bandages after the jump.

CWITCH Coffee and the H Van

cwitch coffee company CWITCH Coffee and the H Van

Selectism Columnist Steve Monaghan comes through with an interesting look at CWITCH Coffee Company that rides around London in their proper H Van selling beans to the masses. The story really comes at two angles – the story of the man who quit his day job to sell coffee and biscuits as well as the restoration of the classic H Van. “The H van was intoduced after the Second World War as France needed a van to get its goods moving again. The basic idea was to provide a ‘walk through’ interior with a low loading floor, easy access from the side through a sliding door and a wide, versatile rear entry”

Get the full details on the CWITCH Coffee at Steve’s Column.

Diesel’s creative director, Wilbert Das, seems to have some free time on his hands and does not let it go to waste. His latest personal project, the UXUA Casa Hotel, is built in the fishing village of Trancoso in the Bahia beach state of Brazil. “UXUA is an exclusive creative retreat, nestled amongst lush tropical gardens on the edge of a stunning coastline….an idyllic environment that is aimed at people that want to create and/or be inspired. They can either stay at UXUA as a quiet working retreat- or for pure unadulterated relaxation.”

The Upgrader | Blue Collar Beers

miller The Upgrader | Blue Collar Beers

In our Boston offices, we drink two things: Bourbon (all varieties) and Miller High Life. High Life is well beyond being a beer of the rich and famous – it is a staple beverage that quenches thirst with the snap of champagne, with a little less alcohol. Men.style’s “The Upgrader” believes there are other options in the “Blue Collar Beer” category. (photo: flickr)

We think they’re out of their minds. Kempt does too.

But if you really need to drink something other than a Miller High Life, feel free to browse this handy dandy guide. Good luck.

valet mag backstage models front Scene & Heard | Overheard at Fashion Week

Over at Valet Mag, they had their ears to the walls at NYFW. Check out the soundbytes and “nuggets” of knowledge they overheard from the likes of Thom Browne, Jeff Halmos and Julia Restoin Roitfeld. Our favorite coming from a model at Lacoste’s 10 am show (above, left), “Tired? I didn’t even make it to bed last night.” Of course you didn’t.
