viberg boots clothing fall winter 2012 preview 04 Viberg Boots and Clothing for Autumn/Winter 2012 Preview

I opened up the Macbook Air after a couple of weeks to find a stash of more first looks from the European tradeshows last month. I’ll do my best to pin them up today. It would make me sad to not share.

Viberg Boot fanatics: enjoy these looks from the Viberg collection for Autumn/Winter 2012. Note a few new models as well as a range of outerwear that falls into that heritage/workwear/man range. Well made of course and attire-proper if you appreciate this sort of thing. We love the boots.

Gloverall Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

Gloverall aw12 04 Gloverall Autumn/Winter 2012 Collection

We take a look at duffle enthusiats Gloverall’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection. You’ll be unsurprised to hear it contains a lot of duffle fastenings and heavy wool. These are their bread and butter which means you won’t get any Thom Browne style surprises. Fashion needs a kick in the rear every now and then but steady-as-she-goes thinking is not something to turn your nose up at.

What they do they do well. Clever collaborations with the likes of bstore and the odd splash of attention grabbing colour in the shape of oranges and limes keeps things fresh while the classics march on. The fact is though the combination of oatmeal wool, wooden toggle and rope pull just works. Always has, probably always will.

Pitti – Nigel Cabourn for Eddie Bauer Autumn/Winter 2012

16 January 2012, 14.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

eddie bauer nigel cabourn fall winter 2012 09 Pitti Nigel Cabourn for Eddie Bauer Autumn/Winter 2012

Back with more from Pitti Uomo.

Into its second season is the excellent Nigel Cabourn collection for Eddie Bauer. We’re told that the collection will be made available through select shops and there is much to be excited about. The archive digging Cabourn pulled out a good deal of fresh gems for the second collection. Specialty fabrics developed in the 1970’s by Woolrich for Eddie Bauer get a second life. British millerain sites against 1970’s Bauer textiles in various forms. The Trapper jackets are standouts looks.

One note for those that still wonder on the price point of the collection: consider that the quilted parkas are hand stuffed and require more than five hours of work for each garment to produce. Cabourn refuses to compromise and we’re happy to see that Eddie Bauer agrees.

manastash fall winter 2012 09 Pitti Manastash Outerwear Autumn/Winter 2012

Manatash, originally a Seattle brewed outerwear company now in the hands of a Japanese licenser, delivers a preview of their Autumn Winter 2012 collection during Pitti Uomo this week. Textile and color blocking on technical outwear from the early 90’s is the charm here. Herringbone with nylon, corduroy against nylons… you choose your pleasure. Europe and Japan (clearly) get the bulk of these Manastash looks. Let us know if you find the line (sans vintage) in the U.S.A.

Ben Sherman Modern Classics Summer Outerwear

20 May 2011, 01.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

modern classics 05 selectism Ben Sherman Modern Classics Summer Outerwear

Summer has given Ben Sherman to further stretch the Modern Classics line with a trio of outerwear pieces. “Crafted from selvedge cotton and half chambray-lined – the blazer is ideal for Summer, and brimming with quality authenticity. Workwear influences can be noticed in the form of elbow patches and flapped pockets, while tailoring detailing ever synonymous with the brand are ever present, the working cuffs a prime example.  The Waistcoat, also slim-fitting and chambray-lined, is complete with cinch at the back to provide an extra tailored fit. As with the blazer, the waistcoat is made from selvedge cotton and finished off sweetly with wooden button closure. The mac’s beauty is in the details – Tattersall check lining, Corozo nut buttons, belted cuffs and a storm closure at the neck. As with the waistcoat and blazer, the mac is slim in its fit, and a very fine addition to the Modern Classics collection.”
