A nice collaborative effort from Self edge and Toyo, Sugar Cane to be exact. Finding a slim/not too slim pair of black trousers is up there with the perfect white tee; once you get it you hold onto it for dear life. The West Coast guys tell us a bit about their take on the classic.

If you history of street fashion going back as far as you can remember (for me that would be the 80’s), camo/DPM patterns have always been there. No matter where you lay – be it street-wear or the high end… camo remains a re-played device of the fashion world. It has not come and gone as a trend; the patterns, while re-worked and re-imagined, have remained  almost seasonal. Is there another pattern in fashion that retains such high/low appeal (and please don’t say stripes)?

While many will look at the “heritage” tagline against any brand with a raised brow in 2011, one cannot deny that a dash of camouflage seems to reset opinions. The trousers are sourced in Raleigh, North Carolina of 12.5 oz indigo-dyed canvas from Cone Mills White Oak Plant. 47 hand numbered pairs are being produced.

As part of the program, launched by GQ and the CFDA in 2008, Dockers has teamed with each of the nominated designers (and the winner, Alexander Wang) to create a collaboratively-designed collection that combines the Dockers brand’s expertise working in khaki with the individual perspective of each of the chosen designers. Their task—to create a modern, fresh take on the iconic khaki pant. The resulting assortment—arriving in select Bloomingdale’s stores tomorrow as part of Fashion’s Night Out.

We first start by showing you the collaborative collection by the winner of the GQ Best New Menswear Designers in America winner for Fall 2011, Alexander Wang. Under the T by Alexander Wang umbrella, the designer worked with Dockers on a t-shirt and a khaki pant, that perfectly fuse the look of Wang and the expertise of Dockers. Look out for an official unveiling tomorrow night as part of ‘Fashion’s Night Out’ at the Bloomingdale’s located at 59th Street and Lexington Avenue in New York City.
