wings horns fall2011 men 1 Wings + Horns Autumn/Winter 2011 Collection

Our friends at Men’s Reviere give us a good look at the current collection from Canada’s Wings + Horns. We have been fans of the brand since well back in 2007 when their hoodies ruled the men’s market. Today, the line has grown beyond those bounds into a strong menswear collection that also features a few collaborative works with the like of Heritage Research (previewed at (capsule) Paris) and others. Buyers will find proper cold weather looks that much knits, parkas with Cone Mill U.S.A. denim. Proper garments for all men. More importantly, Wings + Horns is quality.

Garbstore Langdale Parka

Garbstore Langdale Parka

The parka continues its reign in the outerwear world and while trends come and go we can see why this one’s sticking around. It’s a long jacket with a hood and comes in lots of colours. It’s really that simple. This one from Garbstore is a particular favourite, a perfect shade of ‘Petrol’, the waist pull sets this apart from it’s many rivals. A peak cap hood, wool blanket lining and all this wrapped in Japanese slub chino cloth. The unstoppable march of the parka. Find it at Garbstore.

One Nine Zero Six Drawstring Parka

24 August 2011, 11.00 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

One Nine Zero Six Drawstring Parka
Gymphlex’s One Nine Zero Six capsule collection, headed by designer Jeff Griffin, has been very well received in recent months. The range aims to combine Gymphlex’s experience in traditional English sportswear and Griffin’s keen grasp of utilitarian attire, all whilst nurturing valued relationships with British manufacturers, to ultimately craft garments (in Britain) that are to be welcomed into a contemporary wardrobe.

One of their key designs for AW11 is the military inspired Drawstring Parka, made available in three fabrics; waterproof Ventile Cotton, heavy Melton Wool (pictured) and washed Cotton Panama. The Parka, in it’s various guises, relies on the quality of construction and base fabric to set it apart from competition, arriving as a clear indicator of the brand’s understanding of staple outerwear. -jr

Beams+ Mountain Parka

Beams+ Mountain Parka

San Francisco’s Unionmade have recently taken stock of this 1970s inspired Beams+ jacket. The Mountain Parka lands as prime example of the Japanese labels’ understanding of US outdoors design, made from breathable 60/40 cotton/nylon in a rather fetching green/orange colourway. This light, all weather jacket has arrived as we head into autumn, though with the right layers would surely work throughout a harsh winter; intentionally produced a touch shorter than the original jackets of the 1970s, making it a more practical option for year-round wear. -jr

Levi’s Vintage Clothing Double Breasted Parka

Selectism - lvc-parka-01
Depending on who you listen to, either the ’90s back, the ’80s back (or never left) or the ’70s back. Judging by this parka, we’d definitely say ’70s back. Why, you ask? Because this coat is so Huggy Bear it hurts. In fact, I’m surprised Levi’s didn’t get Antonio Fargas to model in their lookbook. You’ve still got time to do it Levi’s, just don’t forget to pay us consulting fees. (Studio Homme)

Nike NSW Parka

Selectism - nike-nsw-parka-01

As you can probably tell by now, We’re quite the fans of Nike’s NSW range and pieces like this lightweight parka are the reason why. The main reason we like this is because it’s an excuse for us to still wear Nike and not look like the street urchins we once were. (End)
