Someone needs to introduce Liam Gallagher to Peter Jensen. If Gallagher knew that there was already a designer making high quality parkas, he might stop wasting his time trying to make his own clothing line. The latest parka to come from Mr Jensen is this number, which is made of waxed cotton. As longtime readers will know, we’re big fans of anything that gets better as it ages and waxed cotton is one of those materials. Get it from Tres Bien.

We’ve been featuring a lot of Acne’s SS09 collection here lately and for good reason – it’s excellent. This parka is another piece that we feel deserves coverting. If you’ve been following the trend news you’ll know that blues are in this season but we feel this is a case of the Emperor’s new clothes – when has blue ever been out of fashion? That aside, our only problem with this coat is that it seems slightly too long to truly be a summer piece. If you don’t mind the length, get it from Farfetch.

It seems like you can’t turn anywhere without seeing a parka this season, the Patrik Ervell look is one that’s pretty perfect for spring, so it’s only natural that parkas would start being promoted alongside chinos and denim shirts. This Journal Standard parka is of the crumpled kind and would make a nice visual contrast against some chinos and a chambray shirt. Get it if you can from Style Cruise.

We don’t feature Uniqlo’s mainline pieces much here at Selectism, everyone knows about Uniqlo’s quality and value, so what’s the point in us going on about it?. But this check parka is so good we thought it warranted special attention. If you’ve been suitably inspired by Patrik Ervell’s shows then this is the perfect piece to wear with chinos and an oxford. It’s also an actual bargain rather than a relative one at £30. Get it from Uniqlo.

It is getting warmer and while we should be focusing on spring and summer, Opening Ceremony continues to receive stock from Japan’s Master-piece line. Known for their travel bags, this classic mountain parka is a great look for under 700$US. Should last a few seasons. The zip off sleeves are a nice bonus.

Sugarcane’s Buzz Rickson line shows their latest parka from the “William Gibson” Collection at (capsule) show Las Vegas this week. It’s a true banger of a parka. Putting aside the sheer weight of the jacket, we look to the details such as the coyote fur lined hood, stitching, and the overall abundance of storage. You could very well carry your life to a distant planet in the parka. Look for it through select retailers later in the year.

Technical outerwear that works well in high casual mode is the type of gear we have always been fond of.  This parka jacket from Berlin based Dope + Drakkar (”‘Dope’ is a drug and ‘Drakkar’ is an addict.
