Kolor Patchwork Shirt

01 February 2011, 12.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

Selectism - kolor-patchwork-check-shirt-01We love a bit of patchwork, so posting up this shirt was nearly guaranteed. We’re not really fans of paying over £600 for that privilege, but the Yen to Euro exchange rate these days hurts us in more ways than one. If we had to be fussy, we could do without the ribbon detail on the chest. And if you’re about to spend that amount of money on a shirt, we’re sure you will be fussy about these things. (Farfetch)

Galliano Patchwork Sweater

Selectism - galliano-patchwork-sweater-01

So this is one of those ‘never say never’ posts. Having watched Galliano’s shows for a while now, it was a fair bet that we’d never feature anything he ever did. Well, never say never, because here’s a patchwork jumper of his. The main shock – apart from Galliano making something someone who didn’t want to look like a pirate could wear – is the pieces relative affordability (£166). It’s not cheap, but it’s something someone on a regular wage could afford. And it looks nice too, which is what we really care about. (Farfetch)

Acne Collage Shirt

selectism - acne-collage-shirt-01

Patchwork haters, look away now. The trend isn’t going anywhere so now’s the perfect to pretend you’ve liked it all along and hop on the bandwagon. This shirt is much more palatable than other shirts we’ve shown in our past, but a patchwork – or ‘collage’ if you’re acne – shirt it is nonetheless. A shirt like this is a nice halfway house between the plain and patterned – perfect for the folks who’ve been umming and aahing about whether to hop on the patchwork train. (ASOS)

Take a leap to see detailed shots and some pretty ugly plimsolls.

Pendleton for Opening Ceremony Patchwork Shirt

selectism - pendleton-opening-ceremony-patchwork-shirt-01

Patchwork shirts are still a no-no for some people – but we’re not one of those people. It does have to be the right design to catch our eye – there’s enough bad shirts out there to last anyone a few lifetimes – and guess what? we think this shirt has the right design. This was still worth a purchase when it was full price, so the price has been sliced with a Hattori Hanzo, you’d be silly not to pick one up. (Opening Ceremony)

Comme Des Garcons Shirt Patchwork Jumper

selectism - comme-des-garcons-patchwork-jumper-01

Yeah, you’ve seen it before, but it’s on sale now so we’re reloading it. The AW09 CDG shirt collection was one of the most coveted yet (we don’t know one place that still has that duffle coat) and this jumper is just one great piece from a standout collection. If we had to pick a beef with this piece, it’d be the frayed ends; they’re not a dealbreaker, but it’d take some adjusting to. The price is now a relatively cheap (compared to the starting price of £350) £184. (ASOS)

Take a leap to see another shot of the jumper in action (or as in action as a jumper can be).

Uniqlo Patchwork Flannel Check Shirt

30 October 2009, 18.30 | Posted in Fashion | 5 comments »

selectism - uniqlo-patchwork-flannel-check-shirt-01Here’s another choice pick from Uniqlo. They’ve been the style bloggers secret weapon for eons now – we can’t think of any other high street brand who get namchecked in Monocle and has their own Supertalk thread – and pieces like this prove why they’ve retained that status. Patchwork shirts have a definite marmite effect on people; you either love it, hate it or hate that you love it. Us? we love it, but only in certain colourways (like the purple one above). We’re also in love with the price, coming in at an affordable £14.99. (Uniqlo)

Take a leap to see the rest of the collection after the leap.

Lavenham Westly Patchwork Vest

Selectism - Lavenham Westly Patchwork Vest

Lavenham drops this patchwork vest to celebrate their 40th anniversary. They dig through their fabric archive to bring forth a variety of panels made to show off the company’s heritage. Check the gun patch on the shoulder and the back vest pocket. A beautiful piece. Well done. (museumark)

More looks at the Lavenham Westly Patchwork Vest after the click.

Opening Ceremony Patchwork Shirt

selectism - opening-ceremony-patchwork-shirt-01

We’ve said it before, but we’ll say it again; if you’re doing the chambray and denim look, chances are you look a little bit boring. While there’s nothing wrong with being perfectly boring, it’s always nice to have a piece that gets attention. Let’s be honest – that’s the reason you started taking an interest in your clothes in the first place. And this piece is the perfect to attract the good sort of attention. Just remember to tone down the rest of your outfit. (Opening Ceremony)

The song remains the same – detailed shots after the leap.

D&G Patchwork Cardigan

Selectism - D&G Patchwork Cardigan

While Dolce & Gabbana’s diffusion line does have some less than desirable (some might even say tacky) items, they do sometimes bring pieces like this patchwork cardigan out of the woodwork. We love shawl collars as much as the next man -  maybe even more so – but it’s always nice to have a bit of variety. This cardigan is one that’s sure to be an eye catching piece and you won’t have to worry about seeing anyone wearing the same cardi as you. Get it at Farfetch.
