Patrick Ervell Cardigan

With Summer just around the corner, its not surprising to see many brands re-working their cardigan designs. Patrik Ervell shows us his rendition. The design gives us some features like a shawl collar, snap closures down the center and antique copper snaps reinforced with nylon webbing. The cardigan has “two outside hip pockets with flaps and a pocket on the outside left chest.” Peruvian silk on this one. Maas and Stacks has them.

Patrik Ervell Knit Alpaca cap in Golden Yellow

This is a U.S.A made knit cap from Patrik Ervell. I initally balked at the price until I noted it was made from Alpaca. Pricey! “Committed to an anti-old-timey aesthetic, Patrik Ervell creates forward-leaning menswear that is nothing short of awe-inspiring. employing innovative techniques and materials, yet still exercising a degree of restraint, the swedish-born designer successfully strikes a balance between subtle and explosive.” $105 at Opening Ceremony.

Selectism - Patrick Ervell's New Online Shop

HINT lets us know that doors opened to Patrik Ervell’s new online shop. “Patrik Ervell is braving the e-commerce fray with a new online shop. Not bad for an independent label that started modestly enough, churning out suspiciously chic outerwear basics. Who else but Ervell could reinvent the fleece zip-up as a fleece zip-up? But in only a few short years, the Northern California native has done just that, perfecting his incisive brand of sportswear down to a science, giving anoraks, windbreakers and khakis the deluxe treatment.”

There are still a good deal of collections coming at the tail end of the year to cover. Patrick Ervell is one of those collection which we examine based on Tim Blank’s thoughts of the line. “Despite a definite emphasis on outerwear—a little sky-blue shearling layered over denim, a hybrid peacoat—there was a fragility to his clothes that was almost feminine in the conventional sense.” Ervell makes his own claim, “men’s clothes that masculine women wear.” We’ll let you be the judge.
