As much as we like our brogues, desert boots and fancy knitwear, there’s times when we just want to put on a hooded top and be done with it. This Patrik Ervell pieces gives us the opportunity to do just that – and look good while you’re doing it. We know these did the blog rounds a while back, but we just had to highlight this jumper. The multi-coloured version is very nice, but there’s something to be said for this jumper’s understated simplicity. It’s made from alpaca wool (fact fans: alpaca is a domesticated member of the llama family and produces finer wool than cashmere). More importantly, this lands just the right side of grandad swag for our tastes – no easy feat. (Opening Ceremony)

One of our favourites from NYFW, Patrik Ervell’s collections are always reliably desirable. Take this printed shirt for instance. The knock against printed shirts is that, well, they’re printed shirts – the height of busy overdesign. Our thoughts? Ignore the naysayers, team it with a plain cardigan (any colour will do), dark denim and you’re good to go. (South Willard)

It’s nice when designers have something in Common. CP’s Peter Poopat and Patrik Ervell have both previously worked at fashion magazines that started with the letter V (Visionaire and V magazine respectively) and both have moved on to create minimal lines that focus on the details and luxurious materials.

So this collab, which was first seen back at Ervell’s runway show, always made perfect sense. Material wise this has been CP’s most adventurous season yet and, not content with making rubber a high grade material, they’ve used nylon on these shoes. At £326/€377/$534 they’re not cheap, but they’re worth it. (Tres Bien)

South Willard (pictured on the right side above) have got a pretty amazing sale on right now. There hasn’t been a shortage of oxfords this season – but we feel this is the best one out now. The only knock we have against it is that the cloth is a little too heavy for summer, but even that’s not really a knock – just put it in your closet until the suns starts hiding again. Add in the fact that it’s only $72.60 (down from $242) and this is a must buy. (South Willard)

Patrik Ervell is one of those designer who would have been considered too formulaic a couple of years ago but because the ‘current economic climate’™ has changed fashion’s outlook, he’s been pushed more to the forefront. This air jacket is a great piece, enhanced even further by Opening Ceremony’s great styling (arguably better than the runway styling). Get it from Opening Ceremony.

Swedish born and New York City based designer, Patrik Ervell, is a deisgner in "classicism." His tailoring and designs do not stray too far from the contemporary but do offer the opportunity for expression in form by the individual wearing his garbs. Ervell’s Fall/Winter 2008 collection exemplifies this idea with its focus on grey tons, pleated cottons and traditional jackets. Expect tuxedo looks, military inspired jackets, and more.
