Paul Smith Union Jack Umbrella

Selectism - Paul Smith Union Jack Umbrella

My goodness. Today is the day for British inspired goods. If we’re covering raincoats during these cold months, then we might as well hit some umbrellas. Paul Smith is a favorite of course. This Union Jack inspired umbrella works well with a wooden handle embossed with the Paul Smith name. Black exterior covering up the clearly visible and familiar Jack interior. Simple and elegant. You already know the drill – we like card holders. They’re slick, they’re sleek and they’re perfect for those days when a wallet would overfill your pockets. As for this specific card holder, it’s the usual Paul Smith style – understated, with a splash of colour. We shouldn’t have to say anymore, so we won’t. (Matches)

Paul Smith Shawl Collar Flecked Wool Jumper

We’ve been overdosing on shawl collars lately, forgive us. We’ve also been overdosing on Paul Smith for a while – but we’re not asking for forgiveness about that. We don’t usually post up black jumpers as they’re a bit too ‘KGB Hitman’ for our tastes. Thankfully the flecking (not sure if that’s the term for it, but stay with us) makes sure you don’t look like one of those guys who think black is slimming. And if you are, don’t be fooled – we can still see your gut regardless of the colour of your sweater. (Paul Smith)

Paul Smith Tan Wallet

selectism - paul-smith-tan-wallet-01

We know what you’re thinking. We can’t really explain why we’ve fallen in love with wallets either – love’s like that sometimes. This one’s different. It’s not just any old wallet. This one is made from tan leather – like all those shoes we love – and it’ll age like a fine wine. In fact, fine wine wishes it could age as well as this wallet. It’s not cheap, but you knew that when you saw Paul Smith’s name in the title. Just be grateful we’re not recommending a Japanese only wallet that’s only available through a secret handshake with Hiroki Nakumura – we’re saving that for tommorow. (Paul Smith)

Song remains the same, detailed images after that leap.

Paul Smith Ike Hiking Boot

selectism - Paul Smith Ike Hiking Boot

The winning element of the Paul Smith Ike Hiking Boot is the sole. This unit replicates an original design from the 1948 Winter Games in St. Moritz. Clearly, there’s more than just the sole to give the boot an alpine air. The Fiesta leather upper has been tumbled in mud and stones. This provides an “elusive pre-worn look.” Signature laces and liner print might bring the boot into the present, but the general theme here is vintage. (via Acquire).

Paul Smith Floral Cervantes Shoes

These should come attached with a ‘proceed with extreme caution’ label. Floral patterns are hard enough to pull off in the first place, but if you’ve been trying to look like De Niro in Deer Hunter – like 92.5% of menswear bloggers right now – then these are downright dangerous. Even if you can’t pull these off, you can always admire them from a distance. (Paul Smith)

Paul Smith Jacquard Shawl Collar Sweater

14 August 2009, 15.30 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

selectism - paul-smith-navajo-cardigan-01

We’re just gonna come out and say it. We’re still really into shawl collars. We know, that was a groundbreaking announcement – we’re expecting this post to be read out on CNN any minute now – but it’s true.

Shawl collar cardigans were all over the gaff last year and it’s a trend that may just work it’s way into ’staple’ status, a term that’s being misused and abused right now. Staple or not, this Paul Smith shawl collar sweater manages the feat of pulling off two two trends at once and not looking over-designed. Now that’s a CNN worthy feat. (Paul Smith)

If, like us, you have a growing addiction to shoes, then you’ll need certain pairs for certain occasions. If you’ve got your dancing shoes and your work boots, these Paul Smith shoes are perfect for everyday use. The colour means they’ll go with anything from beige chinos to dark denim to grey trousers. The worn-in suede means you won’t be too worried about being caught in a random downpour – something all of us in England live in constant fear of. And most of all, they’re just great shoes.
