Holiday 2011 is getting closer by the day. From the fashion side of the season, we can expect a variety of specialty collections, including a fresh take from Pendleton. Pendleton’s collection for Eddie Bauer offers season-specific menswear including overshirts, bags, and scarves in iconic Pendleton patterns. While heritage is the trend, the true legacy players in this market continue to provide classic takes for all.

Like a lot of companies, Pendleton has milked their day in the sun for all it’s worth. And can you blame them? Make hay while the sun shines and all that. The upside of the Pendleton stuff is that it still looks good, even after they’ve collaborated with the world and its pet monkey. Take this varsity for instance – still handsome ain’t it? Korean brand Spectator have collaborated with fellow countrymen BYBO to produce this Pendleton wool tote. Leather handles, base and tabs and that native American style print, the shape takes it cue from military helmet bags – this one’s a surefire winner.

Pendleton previews looks from their “The Portland Collection” coming this Autumn/Winter 2011. It puts one step forward into taking the classic Pendleton textiles and forming them for a more modern man who is not looking to troll backwards.  The collection “delves deep into the native american-inspired textile and blanket design legacy that the brand has created over the years. Designer trio John Blasioli, Rachel Turk and Nathaniel Crissman have managed to retain the outdoor vibe yet mold the folkloric aesthetics into contemporary pieces you’d readily flaunt at your fav downtown bar.” (sn)

The OC and the Pendleton folks continue their affair with this season’s new collab collection. Our favourite has to be this moto jacket. Which, with ’subtle snakeskin, horseshoe emblems and blazon’ blazers’, sounds very wrong on paper. But, as any fans of sports cliches will know, looking at something on paper isn’t the best judge of how it’ll work out in reality. (Opening Ceremony)
