All these winter jackets are getting rather serious with their technical this and heritage that. The Penfield / Rag & Bone relationship is one that spans more than a single season. For Holiday 2010, they work together on a special make-up based on Penfield’s Rockford silhouette. “The Penfield for rag & bone Mallory down jacket comes in two colorways, with updated fabrication and subtle design details created to complement and combine both brands’ distinctive, rugged aesthetic. The Mallory is available in black thornproof wool with a contrast corduroy shoulder yoke in black and in deep khaki with a dark olive corduroy shoulder yoke. Both jackets feature brown plaid interior lining, two traditionally shaped front chest pockets, two lower welt pockets and custom co-branding on the inside.”

Conversations abound regarding Penfield’s growing presence in a world once dominated by Polo. The brand’s reach and presence in varying circles has it poised for something bigger than most while remaning strong in design and fit. Penfield, a legacy brand from my neck of the woods, is most likely seeing larger growth and exposure today then it did when it first launched. If it hasn’t, it will. We’ve had a soft spot for orange jackets (don’t ask why) and now Penfield are indulging us with this version of their Vasson jacket. Like 99.9% of folks in fashion, we’re now thinking about dressing for winter whilst looking at clothes for next spring  – August be damned.
