Selectism - NTT Docomo Japan Touch Wood Phones

In the past we have featured the design work of Ryuichi Sakamoto – the Kuronan Cruiser and the Bearbricks were favorites of ours. His Touch Wood Phone for NTT Docomo may have trumped them both. “The phones are being created as a joint venture with the ‘more trees’ reforestation project founded by musician Ryuichi Sakamoto and others. They are made with specially treated wood from the thinned forests in Japan managed by the ‘more trees’ project. Each handset is unique featuring the particular grains, patterns and natural coloring of the tree from which it was made.” (luxist)

Nokia will soon be releasing their latest high end phones, the 8800 Arte Series. Coming in at prices between 1k-2k USD, they are not cheap. With a 2-inch display, 3.2 megapixel camera and 1 GB of memory, this fancy device even sports an anti-fingerprint coating to keep it looking sharp. Complete with a leather pouch and noise-canceling bluetooth, it might actually be worth its money. In our opinion its the kind of phone for people that want something stylish and something for the longterm.
