Batten Sportwear, a new collection from designer, Shinya Hasegawa, is a welcome addition to the world of outerwear. With inspirational hits from Hasegawa’s love of surf, the Batten collection also pulls themes found in the classic outdoor wear of the late 70’s and early 80’s. In fact, the jackets themselves are very similar to a deadstock piece we have in our collection developed during this time in Boston (we’ll share that with you at a later date).

In an excerpt from the forthcoming new issue of Oi Polloi’s Pica~Post zine, Hasegawa goes deep in thought explaining the not only the Batten garments but his time working under Daiki Suzuki at Woolrich Woolen Mills. Worth a read.
