Polo Ralph Lauren bring us this classic single breasted trench. Hidden button placket front, single vent, slant pockets, this one comes with a waist belt making the whole thing feel a lot smarter. The fabric is described as ‘medium weight cotton canvas’ which means you’ll probably want to layer up underneath. As much as we love the double breasted variety they’re not the easiest styles to wear. If you’re going to take your cue from a detective on this one we’d say Columbo rather than the Pink Panther. This Dries van Noten delivery for Autumn 2011 gives a bit of detail to the common polo sweater. he two-button closure applied color to the lapel and button line. Most likely a quality garment and well fitted for today’s man. Thecorner.com has them.

Florals galore. Liberty is seeing a strong resurgence of florals from their archive and for good reason. The fashion world has been waiting on something bolder and fresher for some time. We don’t mind florals but it would be nice to see more toile. Left Field delivers a series of polos with some wonderful Liberty Print on the liner. Five polos are available: three stripes and two melange. “Details include genuine Mother of Pearl buttons, a contrast collar, Liberty of London floral print lining inside the collar and placket, and an embroidered logo on the chest.” U.S.A. built.

Lacoste works over their classics for Japan’s SHIPS shops. The Chantilly collection of polo shirts.  Some changes are in order on the polos: they’re a bit shorter than most polos (something necessary for the Japan market) as well as a thicker hem ribbed hem on the sleeves.

The Polo Ralph Lauren resort collection brings light to the traditional yacht races of the past. Here’s the Grange Poplin Tartan Jacket. The lightweight garment has a “durable Teflon-coated poplin in an elegant tartan plaid pattern.” The jacket offers a front zipper closure, throat tab, a handful of angled pockets and ventilated underarm grommets. A great summer option.

The new Spring/Summer 2011 collection from Left Field gives us a different take on classic garments. The “Green Strip” Polo is one piece that looks to be a hit for the season. The shirt is made of “100% Ringspun Cotton” and is manufactured in the United States. The distinct detail that dawns this shirt is the “contrast collar and floral print placket.” A great piece from the Philadelphia born Christian McCann. Context Clothing has them.

“The Rugby Poets Club” is described as a “groundbreaking series.” Not convinced totally of that, however the beauty of the lady in this video is certainly convincing.
