2013 porsche macan suv concept Porsches New SUV is the Macan Coming in 2013

Porsche is set to deliver a new SUV vehicle in 2013. The Porsche Macan is the fifth model in the automaker’s portfolio and the first to come off their newly revamp production line in Leipzig which includes “a fully-fledged production plant including body assembly line and paint shop.”

The name “Macan” itself is a word form from the maker that follows their tradition of linking vehicle names with their corresponding characteristics: “The name Macan is derived from the Indonesian word for tiger and combines suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics – core characteristics of the new off-road car.”

Look for the new Porsche Macan SUV in 2013.

porsche posters 01 1950s Porsche Advertisements

Yeah yeah, we know, 1950s design this, midcentury that. Try as you might you can’t avoid it. However, there’s no question that things just tended to look pretty slick back then and it’s testament to this golden era that much of what came out of the decade has stood the test of time. These Porsche posters are a classic example, listen up advertisers, this is how its done. More at Retronaut.

1974 Porsche Carrera

1974 Porsche Carrera

Gilt, the power house in content-wrapped shopping destinations, delivers their latest classic car auction. A 1974 Porsche Carrera is up for grabs. “One of only 528 built that year, it comes complete with a professionally re-installed ducktail, “Carrera” details, and a paint job that’s as bold as the car itself is quick (thanks to an impressive 8.3lbs/HP power to weight ratio).”  Auction starts tomorrow. Even we admit, it is a beauty, though I still prefer a pre-1990 911.

2012 Porsche Panamera S Hybrid

A killer new hybrid Porsche will make its debut next month in Geneva. The Porsche Panamera S Hybrid is no slouch. As Autoblog tells us: “Porsche has just announced that the it is expanding its hybrid fleet with the addition of the Panamera S Hybrid. The big sedan will come to the party packing a combined 380 horsepower, a figure Porsche says is good enough to get the machine to 62 mph in six seconds flat en route to a top speed of 168 mph. A total of 333 of those ponies are derived from the company’s supercharged 3.0-liter V6 engine, while the remaining 47 horsepower will be served up by an electric motor.” We’re getting there folks. The future.

Porsche Celebrates 60 Years in the US Market

Selectism - Porsche Celebrates 60 Years in the US Market

Has it been that long? Porsche celebrates 60 years of business on US shores way back in 195 when the first one rolled onto the streets of New York. “From the beginning, Dr. Ferry Porsche saw the limitations of selling his 356 sports car in the Western European markets. He knew in order to sustain and grow his dream, Porsche would have to export its products to larger, more affluent markets like the United States, which had been virtually untouched by World War II.” While we’re on the topic, I have a close friend who has totaled more Porsches than you can count on two fingers. He, for one, is still buying them. Why? Nothing drives like a Porsche.

A few more photos from the Porsche 60 Years in the U.S press announcement after the click.

2009 Porsche Cayman S Automobile

29 October 2008, 00.23 | Posted in Designer Toys | No comments »

porsche cayman s 00 2009 Porsche Cayman S Automobile

The Porsche Cayman S automobile is indeed a sports car. Some has described it as a hybrid between the Boxter and the Carrera. We think its simply a hybrid of excellent design. How’s the power? As expected. Technical specs from Porsche.

“The 2.7-liter engine in the new Cayman generates 245 horsepower, while 201 lb.-ft. of torque arrives at just 4600 rpm and stays with you to 6000 rpm. The Cayman S is armed with 3.4 liters of total swept volume and a maximum of 295 horsepower at 6250 rpm.  Maximum torque is 251 lb.-ft. at 4400 rpm.” One true banger and available in my favorite shade of green.

More views of the Porsche Cayman S after the jump.
