Porter for Baxter of California Grooming Implements Kit

Porter for Baxter of California Grooming Kit and Bag

Not more than a half decade past, the swinging pendulum of the Head Porter camera pouch on a carabiner was the symbol of Japanese “street fashion” moving into the west. Argue it as you may, but the very few (initiall) who could get their hands on the pouch coveted them. The price was nominal compared to the Porter full-sized bag offerings. Like the GUCCI belt, it was one of those well priced items affordable by all.

Today, things are a bit different. The expansion of Porter pouch love moves into new territory. Take the Baxter of California’s “Grooming Implements” kit, which features a custom Porter pouch shell and three grooming tools: a  nail file, tweezers, and nail clipper – all marked with the “Baxter of California” name. $140 makes this an excellent gift option for the person in your life who needs some upkeep help.

Head Porter ‘Calvi’ Coin Case

Selectism - head-porter-calvi-coin-case-01

Want a nice coin case-y type wallet but don’t want a CDG one? Look no further. This Head Porter wallet is slightly more expensive than the CDG equivalent but it’s still affordable and, most importantly, you’re less likely to run into someone with the same wallet as you. Unless you’re planning to go to a fashion event – in which case no one will see your wallet as you’ll be drinking free beer all night. (End)

Porter for Isaora Backpack - Proceeds Benefit Japan Red Cross

Months after the tsunami disaster in Japan, the clean-up and relief effort is still on-going. Help is still needed in the region and it continues to rebuild and try to save the area from further human and environmental consequences. Isaora does its part with help of Porter through the release of their Poirer Backpack. Designed by Camille Poirier in 1882, the pack is considered the model for all modern day backpacks. Originally used by the outdoorsmen and women, the Poirier design has been updated for modern times. You’ll find additions such as the iPod pouch and felt padding there to keep your electronics safe. Proceeds from the sales of the Porter for Isaora backpack benefit the Japanese Red Cross.

Porter Layer Briefcase

Selectism - porter-layer-briefcase-01

Despite their recent penchant for overdoing it on the collaboration front, we still like a bit of Porter. It’s interesting to see what the company do next, especially as for so long their bags we’re used to silently say ’see, I have been to Japan, how else could I get this bag?’ Then again, it might just get like Supreme, gaining new fans whilst turning the old fans into the grumps going on about how they were into it before it got hyped. Head Porter just fell in at End and here’s our pick of the bunch. We’re sure you’ve got at least one backpack by now, so it’s time to broaden the collection a little bit. Our only problem would be that we’d resemble ‘Where’s Wally’ when wearing this with a breton shirt. (End)

Porter for Saturdays Surf NYC Tote Bag

Selectism - porter-saturday-surf-nyc-tote-bag-01

Have Porter always been so collab happy? To our eyes it’s looked like we’ve turned away from the brand for a couple of minutes and they’ve started making bags with anyone who asks. This one’s from Saturday’s Surf NYC and, if you’re in the market for a tote, is a handsome one. It’s available in white and navy, although we prefer the navy version, the white’s a good look for someone who plans on their bag never touching a dust particle. Don’t forget to get your proxy on. Sixpoint for Time Out NY

16 February 2011, 17.30 | Posted in Food & Beverages | No comments »

curated mag - Sixpoint for Time Out NY

A magazine beer collaboration? Yup, that’s right. For the “Beer Issue” Time Out New York worked with Brooklyn’s Sixpoint on a special edition Porter.

The story of this beer is really the TONY story distilled into a pint glass. We chose to start with a porter—a dark style that originated in 18th-century England—as a nod to our roots in London, where Tony Elliott founded Time Out in 1968. But to give the brew a bit of NYC attitude, we asked the Sixpoint team to complement the porter’s rich malts with some serious stateside hops. The result is a transatlantic delight: At once traditionally English and distinctly American, the hybrid has a grassy aroma and a sharp bitterness balanced by smooth dark-chocolate undertones.

20 barrels are hitting the streets… more specifically favored TONY beer bars. Make sure to grab the issue and seek out a pint.
