selectism - Beatles to Bowie: The 60s Exposed

Newly opened at London’s National Portrait Gallery Beatles to Bowie: The 60s Exposed brings together portraits of the leading figures in pop music who helped form the vision of “Swinging London” in the decade. The exhibit proceeds chronologically, hinting at shifting sounds and fashions and examining the lasting legacy of the starts that emerged during the period. Worth noting is the comprehensive web component, which features solid text and some representative images from each year of the 60s. Certainly enough to amuse for a portion of this Monday.

The exhibition is open until January 24, 2009. Above is a detail of The Beatles by Robert Whitaker (1964).
