Looking to blow up Milan runway shows in one fell swoop? Bring in some top tier actors to assist. That is exactly what Prada has done with their menswear runway show today for Autumn Winter 2012. Aside from the great fashion, Prada brought into town actors Garrett Hedlund, Alex Carril, Victor Carril, Jamie Bell, Emile Hirsch, Timothy Roth, William Dafoe, Adrien Brody, and finally, Gary Oldman. It is a mega list from a mega brand.

Now as for the looks Mr. Oldman and Brody brought the house down with two of the best overcoats of the show. We would love to know your thoughts…

From the runway in Milan we report about the new Prada Spring/Summer 2012 Men’s Collection. As usual the Italian brand, which recently made the news heavily for going public on the Hong Kong stock market, is not shy of color and presents a very interesting new collection.

Patterns also continue to play an important role, with many pieces featuring heavy all-over designs. The golf theme is also present in all looks of the collection, reflected not only by the shoes and hats, but also the accessories of the line.

Say what you want about PRADA. The brand delivers three shoes from their Spring/Summer 2011 runway show that actually show a hint of being unique. In a market flooded with footwear options, these forward looks mix classic silhouettes with a touch of “different.” Espadrille-like jute rope is mixed into the mid-sole to give it a unique touch. Nothing is stopping the movement of luxury into the online world. Where just years ago, luxury brands would almost flat out refuse the kind of coverage that the online media (including us) could offer, today they’re opening online shops to make it easier for the masses to get their hands on said products. The latest? Prada. “Starting July 1, the prada.com website is expanding its distribution network by launching the E-Store in Continental United States, one of the world’s most receptive markets for online purchasing, as well as Alaska and Puerto Rico. The region has long been strategic for the brand’s development and image.”

Some day bags from the Prada family. The “Bring Your Own Bags” are designed to be stored away and ready for your next trip to the grocer or for shopping. They’re made in the traditional Prada fabric and embellished with “select archive prints.” For this reason they’re not low in cost. They’ll retail for 295$US at all Prada retailers.

Prada’s spring/summer 2010 look book hammers down a few things we’ve been noticing. For one, people are pretty darn excited about shorts. Prada’s version happen to come a little shorter than some others, and the fabric choices appear less traditional in terms of seasonal affiliation. Secondly, we’re finding that mock turtle necks are making a comeback.
