Here’s something all geeky folks will enjoy. Created by Jesse Eisemann, the Super Mario Bros inspired map artwork is perfect for any nostalgic New Yorker who misses the old days when plumbers solved things by jumping on things and headbutting bricks. It’s available to buy from Imagekind.

Old Try is a print shop run by Micah and Marianna, a couple of Southerners (North Carolina and Alabama to be exact) who now find themselves living and working in Boston. In an attempt to bring a piece of home to the North they began to design letterpress posters, the themes and images all relating to their much missed hometowns with everything ‘printed on old machines with moveable type and wood blocks, just like what would have been used a hundred years ago’. This print by Stefan Marjoram is simply amazing for anyone who loves speed and motor vehicles. A straight history lesson in graphic form. Here’s what Marjoram says on the print: “I’m very interested in the history of the Land Speed Record and with the print I wanted to highlight how the size and shape of the cars has changed over the years and so they are as close to the correct size in relation to each other as I could get them.”

Here’s something for the beer lover in your life. Or, perhaps for your own home bar. Pop Chart Lab’s “The Very Many Varieties of Beer” print represents all the major styles of beer, with popular quaffs for each, in a well composed chart. The mix of music and print is a great one. The mix of two old media formats (which goes beyond the liner notes of a typical LP) is worth noting and studying. Soundscreen Design’s “Artist Music Journal” accomplishes this. Yet another of our favourite blogs, Magculture, has made a foray into print. Magculture paper is a greatest hits compilation of blog posts, compiling several posts that you may have missed.
