Super New York City Print Map

Old Try Print Shop

Old Try Print Shop

Old Try is a print shop run by Micah and Marianna, a couple of Southerners (North Carolina and Alabama to be exact) who now find themselves living and working in Boston. In an attempt to bring a piece of home to the North they began to design letterpress posters, the themes and images all relating to their much missed hometowns with everything ‘printed on old machines with moveable type and wood blocks, just like what would have been used a hundred years ago’. Find them at Old Try.

The History of The World's Fastest Vehicles Print

This print by Stefan Marjoram is simply amazing for anyone who loves speed and motor vehicles. A straight history lesson in graphic form. Here’s what Marjoram says on the print: “I’m very interested in the history of the Land Speed Record and with the print I wanted to highlight how the size and shape of the cars has changed over the years and so they are as close to the correct size in relation to each other as I could get them.”

Curated turns us onto this artwork:

“The latest print release, requested by demand, is a small edition of 50 giclees, 10 of which will feature specifically hand finished detail with impasto paint. The ‘Cheeseburger’ was the first painting in the food series of iconic favourites, recreating delicious qualities through texture and colour. This image features in the Aol Artists series and will soon debut in a bill board campaign across the USA. This painting was also featured in the launch of the ‘Project on Creativity’ at the New Museum of Contemporary Art in New York.”

Selectism - Artist Music Journal Edition 10 + No Age 10" Vinyl

The mix of music and print is a great one. The mix of two old media formats (which goes beyond the liner notes of a typical LP) is worth noting and studying. Soundscreen Design’s “Artist Music Journal” accomplishes this. Check out Edition 10 of “AMJ.” “Edition 10 in the ongoing Artist Music Journals series features the work of the Los Angeles based designer, artist, musician and label owner Brian Roettinger, whose operates the creative umbrella Hand Held Heart. Unlike any previous Artist Music Journal, this installment includes Brian’s 24-page book as well as a one-sided 10″ record, featuring a collaboration between Brian and No Age with 3 exclusive tracks.”

Magculture.com Paper

Selectism - magculture-paper-01.jpg

Yet another of our favourite blogs, Magculture, has made a foray into print. Magculture paper is a greatest hits compilation of blog posts, compiling several posts that you may have missed. In the words of Magculture, ‘The great thing about blogging is the instantaneous nature of content publication, but the flipside is that the content disappears quickly too, becoming buried below the latest posts. This will help you dig out some of those posts.’

It’s available from Magculture and it costs 3.99 (Although you can probably get it cheaper from J.Crew).

Take a look at some spreads after the leap.
