London’s Design Museum hosted Puma’s launch of their sponsored Africa Kits for 2012. Each of the ten partner team jerseys were designed by artists from the Creative African Network (CAN), Puma’s platform for bring together creatives from across the African continent. Teams include: Cameroon, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Algeria, Namibia, Senegal, Togo, Gabon, Burkina Faso and the newest member to the Puma line-up, South Africa. Look for the new Puma kits to shine during the Africa Cup of Nations.

We’re more accustomed to suede clydes, but we can rock with canvas ones too. Undefeated have been doing blog friendly collabs for a while now – remember those Adidas ones from last year? If there’s one thing that can be taken from the great blog explosion, it’s that menswear bloggers love a bit of beige on their feet (us included, humourless ones). 85% of the High Snob and Selectism team were in Berlin last week, so there’s gonna be a fair amount of cross posting today – including this post, which was previously on HS. This preview of Puma’s Hussein Chayalan designed line showcases what folks would call ‘clean and simple lines’. They look like they’ll be great for the guys who doesn’t need their trainers to be obnoxiously colourful.

Not so much a post on the products of PUMA as much as a bit of respect to them innovating on the shoe box while keeping sustainability in mind. The PUMA S-INDEX challenges the company to uphold some serious environmental requirements. “The introduction of the S-Index for all products and packaging is a standard that serves as a production benchmark and communicates the products’ sustainable features to consumers. Consumers are becoming increasingly discerning in their purchasing choices and the PUMA S-Index will provide a seal of assurance. PUMA’s objective for the next phase of its long-term sustainability program is that 50% of its international product collections in footwear, apparel and accessories and 100% of its packaging are S-INDEX approved by 2015.”

Puma showcases the “Urban Mobility Collection by Hussein Chalayan” collection once again at Project LV this week.  We originally covered their Spring collection back at Project in September when it was jumping off as a capsule collection. Today, it looks like the collection continues strong with new and old silhouettes being introduced using a variety of new fabrics including elk on some models. A very well executed collection if we may say so.

Here’s a quick preview of the “Motus” Chukka from the Puma “Urban Mobility Collection by Hussein Chalayan” which debuts as a capsule collection this Spring 2010. The idea behind the line is urban travel and the footwear focuses on looks that are lightweight and packable while retaining high production standards and look. The collection is made in Italy and we’ll be previewing all the men’s looks shortly.

Although Puma have collaborated with designers like Alexander McQueen in the past, the news (thanks to Men.Style via WWD) that they’ve collaborating with Yves Saint Laurent still seemed a pretty leftfield combination. YSL aren’t really known for their collaborations and, no offense to Puma, we had assumed that they’d start this route with a company that were more known for great designs. The shoe will be available exclusively online and there’s no word on price or release date.

Pretty sure BMW imagined a similar vehicle some years ago. In any event, General Motors as worked with Segway on the P.U.M.A. This stands for Personal Urban Mobility and Accessibility. We like to spell that B.I.K.E. The P.U.M.A. goes three times as fast as the standard Segway and has space for two. (via DB).

WWD is reporting that the Alexander McQueen for Puma line will expand to include clothing. The unexpected move from the collaborative line will be shown during Milan Fashion Week which begins tomorrow. We hope for good things from the Mancat.

The Volvo Ocean Race is the most extreme, most dangerous, and most challenging sailing event on the planet. Often referred to as the “Everest of Sailing,” the Volvo Ocean Race is a test of not only skill, but also endurance. The Puma Sailing team has joined the ranks of Prada to compete for the title this year.

Puma’s boat, Il Mostro, christened by Selma Hayek back in May, is already on it’s way as the race started a few days ago. It’ll be hard to miss their boat as it resemble a Puma shoe, in bright red complete with faux elastic straps and stitching along the hull. You can follow all the sailors exploits on their blog.
