Buyer's Guide | 10 Shoes, No Socks
Socks are fun 75-percent of the time, but when the heavy summer heat hits, nothing feels better than slipping your bare feet into a pair of light, breathable shoes. Sure, by the end of the day shoes with no socks get rather clammy, but there’s talcum powder and/or Febreeze for that. With out further ado, here are 10 shoes that you can wriggle those toes freely in after the solstice.

Quoddy Boat Moccasin – Summer 2012

11 April 2012, 21.00 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

 Quoddy Boat Moccasin Summer 2012
We are not bored with boat shoes—such a classic look, they will always be a staple—but it has been a while since a boat shoe really moved us. We are feeling a bit of uplift, however, from these novel mocs by Quoddy. The upper is pure tried-and-true boat shoe. No surprises there (though it is worth noting here that all of their shoes are handmade in Maine).

What makes us a bit giddy is the sweet Vibram sole: “Die cut by hand, fitted to the last, and handsewn to the upper—no other company in the world does this to our knowledge.” Hot, hot mocs, especially in that red. Get them custom built for you by Quoddy.

Quoddy – Seasonless – Build Your Own

20 January 2012, 18.00 | Posted in Shoes | 1 comment »

quoddy fall winter 2012 shoes 4 Quoddy Seasonless Build Your Own

I’ve been thinking about “factories” like Maine’s Quoddy for a while. For those not aware, Quoddy is located in Lewiston, Maine, a town pretty much in the middle of nowhere. As in literally in the middle of no-where. Imagine one day, you start getting an increase of orders and the next season, you are in Paris and Europe showcasing your hand-made, made to order footwear – it is a pretty incredible idea. They should be riding this run as hard as they can, and it looks like it is not slowing down.

Showing images of the line is like opening up their catalog of options. This is not a collection view: this is a small example of what Quoddy can build for you. And do hear me correct: ANY OF YOU can contact Quoddy and have an individual pair made for yourself. Support Maine. Support Quoddy.

It’s getting cold in the Northeast USA. Yes, Autumn is only days away. Prepare now with this beautiful pair of Quoddy Woodsman 10inch boots. They’re not some heritage throwback. These are the real thing as Quoddy has been doing for decades. Full moccasin construction made from Horween Cavalier Leather and 18 0z waxed canvas upper. 10 lacquered eyelets finish off the upper as does the deerskin tongue. Nice.
