Quoddy Blucher Shoes

Quoddy Blucher Shoes

The master craftsmen over at Quoddy deliver a new collection of shoes for the season. The “Blucher” is a “full moccasin construction” shoe. It offers Horween Chromexcel leather uppers, fully lined with glove leather, and three lacquered eyelets with rawhide lace. It comes in a couple different colorways. The options for camp sole selection, color selection, hardware selection and lining really make this a shoe for you. A great spring shoe for the upcoming sunny days. The slim contours of the shoe allow for a great overall fit with any outfit. A pair of jeans, a t-shirt, and these shoes will get you ready to go. It’s available at Quoddy.

Quoddy Road Chukka Redux

More takes on the legendary Quoddy boots. During my last NYC visit, a friend just in from France asked where he could acquire a pair. Expect more reach in the EU shortly from this brand beyond the boutique houses. “These boots are made in Tan Muleskinner a waxy finished rough out leather that is water repellent and great looking. Like all Quoddy shoes and boots these chukkas are handsewn in Maine and incredibly comfortable.” Leffot in NYC has these.

Selectism - wear-tear-04

We took a week off, but here’s the next feature in our guest blogger series. There’s no shortage of classic menswear based blogs out there right now, but for our money Start With Typewriters is one of the best. SWT’s approach is decidedly light-hearted, going against the po-faced grain that’s gaining popularity.

Another reason we like Start With Typewriters is their ‘wear and tear’ series, where they take a look at what happens when you’ve used a product for a year or so. So, with that in mind, we felt it only right to ask them to do a special wear and tear for us. Read their review of the Quoddy boat shoes after the leap.

Selectism - Quoddy for Wings + Horn Shoes

We were passed these photos of what look to be a new series of Quoddy shoes for Wings + Horns. The website we’re pulling them from is a bit short on details but they’re worthy of a look. Check the choice fabrics on these shoes from a New England classic shoe company for the strong Canadian brand. They’re said to drop in doors in the coming months.

Selectism - Quoddy for Heritage Research Boots

Heritage Research revised the classic Quoddy Grizzly Boot with a “specially developed Vibram sole unit that mimics a moccasin sole. This is the first time that any Quoddy product has ever had a Vibram sole which is interesting.” Heritage Research have also spun in their ‘Lazy Arrow’ stitch which appears on many of their shirt pockets onto the toe. “The boot itself is made from Russet Bison and Peanut leather with a Chocolate deerskin bellows tongue.” Look for these in late April.

Selectism - 3sixteen Footwear Spring 2010

We took a walk over to visit the guys at 3sixteen who kindly gave us a preview of their collection of footwear for Spring 2010. The line has clearly expanded to include a variety of new models – all of which are being produced by the handmade shoemakers at Quoddy. The Grizzly boot is drawing some attention at the moment with its crepe rubber sole.

Quoddy for Albam Moccasin Deck Shoe

quoddy for albam moc deck shoe 02 Quoddy for Albam Moccasin Deck Shoe

Albam works again with the good people of Quoddy on a great pair of American made (Maine – holla!) deck shoe moccasin. There is something very special about the Quoddy product. As you see from the image, the gumsole finish gives this moc a floating effect which in the end, gives it a comfortable ride throughout. Albam is making these made to order, so be sure to email or call them if you desire a pair.

3sixteen quoddy shoes 02 Vegas Shows | Quoddy for 3sixteen Shoes for Autumn 2009

3sixteen dives into footwear with this beautiful collaboration with Main’s Quoddy shoes. Based in Passamaquoddy, ME, Quoddy was founded by Kevin and Kirsten Shorey (third generation shoemakers), Quoddy Trail employs expert sewers who craft each shoe by hand from start to finish. The shoes are made of 100% Chromexcel leather and are fully pigskin-lined for comfort – they also feature a full leather vamp, nickel eyelets, and a handsewn lock-stitched tip and kicker. The black and navy colorways will be released in select accounts as part of 3sixteen’s Autumn 2009 collection. (photos: Michael Savant)

Quoddy Grizzly Chromexel Boots

quoddy grizzly chromexel boot front Quoddy Grizzly Chromexel Boots

The o.g. sewers of the L.L. Bean boot back in the day, Quoddy, has becoming one of the hot footwear brands in the American heritage movement. Their handmade moccasin line, made in Maine by the shores of the Passamaquoddy Bay, bring a style of American craftsmanship not often found in the mainstream. The Quoddy Grizzly Chromexel Boots are a fine example of their work. Top grade deerskin leather is used to shell the boot, while foam is added between the vamp and bottom to give it some extra insulation. Simply impressive. Find them now locally in the USA or through Oi Polloi online.
