Rachel Comey Sweater

Those looking for an alpaca sweater should adjust to this one from Rachel Comey, with its wool blend and golden look. May work for some who refuse to bother with the harshness of commercial wool. Stay soft, my friends. Available at Stels.

Rachel Comey Derringer Shoe

It’s been a while since we’ve featured any Rachel Comey, so here’s a shoe of hers we like. We know, we know – it’s leopard print and you’re all about the classic sprezz now but think of it as an investment piece. As leopard print shoes never really go into fashion – regardless of how often you see them at a tradeshow – they never really go out of it. Meaning you’ll always look slightly ridiculous no matter when you wear it. Which, for the record, is a good thing. (Forward)

Rachel Comey Mateba Slate Oxford Shoes

Rachel Comey brings her newest season of men’s shoes. The “Mateba Slate” oxford shoe uses 100% leather and comes in a matte dark charcoal color. The classic oxford silhouette is designed with a stacked leather sole and features “stitch seam details and a padded leather insole.” The shoes are all handmade in South America. A great take on the oxford shoe. Available at Gargyle.

If you’ve not been one for the chunkier sole, then Rachel Comey is for you. Her oxfords are great for summer, especially if you’re just not that into the traditional shoemakers attempts at summer footwear. We’d imagine these would work pretty well with her upcoming re-entry into the world of men’s clothing, which will relaunch come autumn.  (Opening Ceremony)

Rachel Comey Launches E-Commerce Store

Selectism - rachel-comey-online-store

The flash based sites keep rolling in. This time it’s Rachel Comey, who’s recently launched an e-commerce store exclusively for her mens’ shoe range. Apart from having all the shoes we’ve ranted and raved about on this site, there’s also some nifty use of flash. Aside from being distractingly eye-catching – we could barely stop playing with the site long enough to write this – it’s a nice way to see how the shoes would look when worn.

See the site for yourselves here.

Rachel Comey Rigby Nomad Hiker

selectism - Rachel Comey Rigby Nomad Hiker

Rachel Comey’s footwear offerings are something of a fan favorite here at Selectism. Not too formal, not too casual, and with just enough color to strike out from the norm. Color might be absent from the Rigby Nomad Hiker, but the shoe maintains our favorite bits from true mountain shoes (d-rings) while pairing down the aesthetic and lightening the silhouette.

In truth, these also remind of a favored pair of Ellesse trainers from my youth. And, given that finding a pair of those is near impossible, Ms. Comey’s hiker twist keeps hope alive. (via Acquire).

Rachel Comey Uncle Dan Oxford

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – we like the classics, but we don’t want to be swapping style tips with our fathers just yet. Which is why we like these ‘Uncle Dan’ oxford from Rachel Comey so much. They give a nod to the classic while being updated enough to avoid any old man connotations. What we love about these shoes in particular is the fine shade of tan they come in. Colour buffs (if such a thing exists) should be pleased to know that the colour is officially known as ‘toast’ – presumably after the perfectly made honey-esque golden brown variety as opposed to the burnt stuff. (Opening Ceremony)

Song remains the same, take a leap to see detailed images.

Rachel Comey Autumn/Winter 2010 Footwear Preview

29 January 2010, 22.00 | Posted in Shoes | 3 comments »

Selectism - Rachel Comey Autumn/Winter 2010 Footwear

Fans of Rachel Comey’s work will be happy with these preview looks from her forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. We recently asked he why she so enjoys working on men’s shoes. “Maybe it’s because I spent my college years in Vermont where everybody wears men’s clothes (partly out of necessity and partly out of defiance). Or maybe because I’m the introspective sort who is often looking down, but also the optimistic one who’s always looking to improve upon what’s down there.” One day I hope to meet you, Ms. Comey and I will look up.

Selectism - Rachel-Comey-Espadrille-01

We know. We know you’re either stomping through slush or skating on black ice on the way to work. We know you don’t wanna see espadrilles right now. But we’re gonna show you them anyway. They’re on sale ($149 from $298), summer will come in due time and you won’t regret buying these when the sun decides to show itself again. (Assembly)
